Attention !!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For installation you need three archives from Aminet:gfx/conv. Some archives
(Doc and CPU) exists in more than one version. Please choose the required
documentation language and the required CPU-Version. If you don't known, which
CPU/FPU works in your Amiga, download all CPU files or only the files you think
that are the right ones. You can also download more than one documentation
archive or CPU archive, the install script lets you choose the language and the
CPU version to install.
If you want to change an installed XTrace documentation into another language,
you can also download only a documenation archive and install the documentation
with the install script located in the Documentation/<Language> drawer.
The main archive : XTrace_Main.lha
The doc archive : XTrace_???Doc.lha
- ??? = Eng -> English documentation
- ??? = Ger -> German documentation
- ??? = Fre -> French documentation
The CPU archive : XTrace_#?.lha
- #? = 000 -> MC68000 version
- #? = 020 -> MC68020 version
- #? = 020882 -> MC68020/M68882 version
- #? = 030 -> MC68030 version
- #? = 030882 -> MC68030/M68882 version
- #? = 040 -> MC68040 version
- #? = 060 -> MC68060 version
Extract all downloaded XTrace archives into the _same_ directory and start the
installer script.
It is possible, that some documentation archives will be released much later
than the XTrace main program, because the translation of these files is still
under progress.
Please read the history chapter carefully, because some important changes was
made.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is XTrace ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XTrace is a tracer to convert bitmap pictures (like IFF ILBM files) to vector
pictures (like AI, EPS, FIG, IFF DR2D or DXF files).
It offers many operators to process bitmap and vector pictures and also supports
bezier curves, XPK, clipboards, CyberGraphX/Picasso96 etc.
As a very special feature, XTrace is able to save traced pictures as
3-dimensional logo for Michiel den Outer's "Navigator Titler" (Video Titler) and
as 3-dimensional DXF files (for use with raytracers). It can also load and trace
AMIGA fonts and save these as 3-dimensional fonts for the "Navigator Titler".
*Please* read the documentation in every case carefully, otherwise, you can't
take the full advantage of XTrace !! There's also a FAQ chapter with some
questions/answers you'll probably have.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Requirements
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XTrace requires at least AmigaDOS 3.0, at least 5 Mb RAM and a fast processor to
work efficient, but it should run with 2 Mb RAM and a MC68000.
It requires approximately 2 Mb of hard disk space for full installation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation is easy, just click on the installation icon and XTrace will be
installed. The installation is safe, there's no risk of overwriting any files
and you can later uninstall easily by deleting the XTrace-Drawer. This will
completely remove XTrace from your system. If you abort the installation, files
that were installed will be deleted.
All files except some libraries were installed into a single directory.
I suggest you install XTrace in expert user mode.
You should really use the Installer script and not try to install XTrace
manually. If you don't have the standard Amiga Installer utility, you can
download it from any Aminet site, the file is:
Aminet:util/misc/Installer_43_3.lha
This file can be found also on the Aminet CDs #13 - #16.
Please note that the XTrace installation script requires this version of the
installer. It is possible, that it will not or not correctly work with older
versions !
I can't include it, because I don't know if Amiga International, Inc. allow
that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Distribution
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This version of XTrace is unregistered, every picture will be marked with
"DEMO". So register please .... :-) For further information read the guide or
the about text in the program.
