THE TSQL MAILING LIST
The TSQL mailing list is meant to be a common meeting area for persons
interested in the TSQL design. Topics for discussion include all those
listed in the initial white paper, "TSQL: A Design Approach"
(proposal.tex), and include
Physical Time Line and Time-stamp Representation
User-defined Time Domain
Underlying Historical Relational Data Model
Historical Selection and Projection
Aggregates
Schema Specification and Evolution
Adding Transaction Time to the Data Model
Schema Versioning
Transaction Time Selection and Projection
Design of the Core Algebra
Adding Aggregates to the Algebra
Adding Transaction Time to the Algebra
TSQL and SQL standards
Items of interest should be mailed to "tsql@cs.arizona.edu". Mail is
immediately redistributed to all persons on the list. It is good
practice to include a signature giving your name and email address,
because not all mailers preserve these.
Requests for addition or removal from the list should be sent to
"tsql-request@cs.arizona.edu" and not to the general mailing list.
If you submit an item to tsql and get back failure notifications for
individuals, you can help eliminate this problem by mailing such
messages to tsql-request. Our software tries to arrange for failure
notifications to be sent to us, but it isn't foolproof.
Collected correspondence from the tsql mailing list will be
periodically archived, and will be made available via anonymous ftp
from ftp.cs.arizona.edu.
There is also a postal mailing list for receiving white paper design
proposals. Additions, changes, and deletions from this list should be
sent to
Richard Snodgrass
Associate Professor
Department of Computer Science
University of Arizona
Tucson, AZ 85721
or emailed to rts@cs.arizona.edu. Occasionally lists of available
white papers will be sent to the tsql mailing list, along with
instructions on how to acquire copies of these papers.
TEMPORAL DATABASE GLOSSARY
The Glossary is a consensus document. Christian S. Jensen
<csj@iesd.auc.dk> heads the editorial board for the document; James
Clifford, Ramez Elmasri, Shashi K. Gadia, Pat Hayes, and Sushil
Jajodia are members. 22 people contributed to the glossary.
THE TEMPORAL DATABASE GLOSSARY MAILING LIST
The Temporal Database Glossary mailing list is meant to be a forum for
discussion of definitions relevant to the temporal database glossary.
Various versions of the glossary have appeared, including one
published in September, 1992 SIGMOD RECORD, and several available via
anonymous FTP from ftp.cs.arizona.edu, in the tsql directory: December
1992, March 1993, and May 1993 versions, as well as a June 10 addendum
of the glossary, presented at the temporal DB workshop held in
Arlington, Texas.
At that meeting, it was decided that an Editorial Board, headed by
Professor Christian S. Jensen, would be ultimately responsible for
merging and making consistent proposals for terms. However, this
mailing list is open to anyone, and technical discussion of proposed
terms will certainly be considered closely by the Editorial Board.
Items of interest should be mailed to "tdbglossary@cs.arizona.edu".
Mail is immediately redistributed to all persons on the list. It is
good practice to include a signature giving your name and email
address, because not all mailers preserve these.
Requests for addition or removal from the list should be sent to
"tdbglossary-request@cs.arizona.edu"; such requests should not go to
the general mailing list.
Collected correspondence from the tsql mailing list will be
periodically archived, and will be made available via anonymous ftp
from ftp.cs.arizona.edu in the tsql subdirectory, in the file
tdbglossary.mail.
TEST SUITE
The Test Suite of temporal database queries is a consensus document.
Christian S. Jensen <csj@iesd.auc.dk> is the editor; 22 people
contributed to the document.
THE TEMPORAL DATABASE BENCHMARK MAILING LIST
The Temporal Database Benchmark mailing list is meant to be a forum
for discussing temporal database benchmarks. Various versions of a
"semantic benchmark," to be used to evaluate the user friendliness of
proposed temporal query languages, have appeared, including the May 10
version of the benchmark, containing tasks 1-3, and the June 11
version of the benchmark, which was presented at the temporal DB
workshop held in Arlington, Texas.
At that meeting, it was decided that Professor Christian S. Jensen
would head up an effort to complete the semantic benchmark (probably
under a different title). However, this mailing list is open to
anyone.
Items of interest should be mailed to "tdbbenchmark@cs.arizona.edu".
Mail is immediately redistributed to all persons on the list. It is
good practice to include a signature giving your name and email
address, because not all mailers preserve these.
Requests for addition or removal from the list should be sent to
"tdbbenchmark-request@cs.arizona.edu" and not to the general mailing
list.
Collected correspondence from the tdbbenchmark mailing list will be
periodically archived, and will be made available via anonymous ftp
from ftp.cs.arizona.edu in the tsql subdirectory, in the file
tdbbenchmark.mail.
