  23.     On Intel Itanium:  change "-O2" to "-O" in Makedefs after
  24.     configuring.  This fixes errors seen in the "large" test
  25.     of multiprecision integers.

  27.     On HP PA-RISC architecture:  Icon is not functional.  For
  28.     reasons that are not understood, real (floating-point)
  29.     values do not work.

  33.     Tested on various Red Hat systems ranging from 6.0 to 7.2,
  34.     and on several different Debian 3.0 prerelease systems.

  36.     This configuration can use pthreads for context switching.
