  12. !POP is a POP3 mail transport for use with Freenet/Acorn TCP/IP.  It will
  13. fetch e-mail from one or more POP mailboxes and can also send outgoing
  14. e-mail (using SMTP).
  15.  
  16. POP is only a transport - unless you are a massochist you will also need
  17. some mail management/reading software.  Newsbase and TTFN are recommended.
  18. !POP stores its mailboxes in standard formats, so other packages may work.

  22. * Almost everything is set up from dialogue boxes
  23. * Can check mail for multiple users & hosts
  24. * Mail can be left on the server (useful for checking
  25.   'work' email from home)
  26. * Messages over a certain length can be trapped and skipped or just the

  28.   header downloaded.  The full message can be fetched or deleted later.
  29. * Runs largely in 'background' mode and doesn't lock up your machine
  30.   while waiting for the server to respond.
