  23. Compiled on: SunOS pi22 4.1.3_U1 2 sun4m

  25. NOTE: This program doesnt work under Solaris. Get ardt_solaris if you use sunos5.x

  27. ATTENTION: If you do not get a binary for your system,
  28. please get ardt.txt and ardt.c, compile it,
  29. upload it and write a .txt-File
  30. (use this file as template and insert the result
  31.  of 'uname -a' into it)
  32.  
  33. ------------------------- How to install
  34. Lines which begin with '>' should be entered into your unix-shell
  35. (csh/bash/sh/tcsh... or whatever you have)
  36. without the '>'. Words in '' mean the word without the "'"
  37. Decompress it with:
  38. > gzip -d ardt_sparc.gz
  39. rename it to ardt
  40. > mv ardt_sparc ardt
  41. make it readable and executable (for everybody)
  42. > chmod 0755 ardt
  43. (use the value '755' if '0755' doesn't work)
  44. After reading the rest of this readme
  45. start the ardt-program with
  46. > ./ardt
  47. (or with 'ardt' if you have '.' in your path for executables)
  48. Choose 'builtin ftp' and select 'ftp.uni-kl.de' as server
  49. (the uni-siegen-servers DONT work and are only for
  50.  testing purposes !!!)
  51. Then the programm should 'connect to ftp.uni-kl.de'
  52. and 'get info/adt/...'.
  53. You will see the new files of the last 14 days.
  54. Select/deselect with 'Return' and download with 'd' and then 'b'.
  55. View the Readme with 'r'.
  56. To view all files on AcorNet press 'v' and then 'a' ('v'iew 'a'll).
  57. Play around with it, but read the KNOWN BUGS below before !

  59. You can put ardt into your path. But before calling it,
  60. make a 'rehash' to rescan the path. If you don't do it,
  61. you will get a 'file not found' or similar error.
  62. You can tell other Acorn-users to use your ardt if you make it
  63. readable and executable for everybody:
  64. > chmod 755 
  65. The config-files will be saved into their $HOME-directories.
  66. Its no security-problem for you (unless you set the suid-bit,
  67. but i think you won't do it).

  70. > ./ardt -
  71. to see the command-line options.

  82. KNOWN BUGS:
  83. - When getting a .txt-File you get Error-Messages about
  84.   wrong .txt-Filesizes. This is normal.
  85.   And will be fixed somedays.
  86. - find doesn't work. This is no ardt-Problem.
  87.   The find-Tables are not made automatically
  88.   until now.
  89. - If you call 'ardt -' the PatchVersion '001' is printed.

  96. If this doesn't work for you do the following:

  98. Look at the last lines and see where i run my x-session.
  99. (or if i'm logged into clapton...)
  100. finger the machine to see, if i'm idle on this machine
  101. a longer time (>10 Min). If not, try to talk me
  102. on that machine.
  103. If you use a 1/hp/... i will get your talk-request,
  104. but the talks aren't compatible. I will notice it
  105. after some time (because my talk doesn't connect to your talk)
  106. and change to a 1.
