  3. The following are known problems/deficiencies in the IMAP 4.5 toolkit:
  4.  . Bugs:
  5.    . Case-independent searching only works for the 26 Roman alphabetics and
  6.       not for any other characters
  7.    . The experimental mx driver has performance problems and shouldn't be used
  8.    . docs/internal.txt is out of date (again)
  9.  . IMAP client limitations:
  10.    . No SASL protection mechanisms (SASL authentication mechanisms are
  11.       supported)
  12.  . POP client limitations:
  13.    . No SASL protection mechanisms (SASL authentication mechanisms are
  14.       supported)
  15.    . No POP3 UID support
  16.  . NNTP client limitations:
  17.    . No extensions support
  18.    . No SASL support
  19.  . SMTP client limitations:
  20.    . No SASL protection mechanisms (SASL authentication mechanisms are
  21.       supported)
  22.    . No support for use of TURN, ETRN, and pipelining.
  23.    . No support for enhanced status codes
  24.  . UNIX limitations:
  25.    . Supported local file formats: mbx, mh, mmdf, mtx, mx, news, phile, tenex,
  26.       unix
  27.    . Supported SASL mechanisms: CRAM-MD5, LOGIN, ANONYMOUS, GSSAPI
  28.    . Sticky UIDs are not supported in the mh, mtx, and tenex drivers
  29.    . Creation of keywords is not supported in the mh, mtx, and tenex drivers
  30.    . Flat file formats (mbx, mmdf, mtx, phile, tenex, unix) do not permit
  31.       mailboxes to have inferior names
  32.  . Amiga limitations:
