  2.                            Installing WinSPIRS v2.1

  5. The following is a guide to downloading and installing WinSPIRS v2.1. 
  6.  
  7. Once you have installed WinSPIRS, we recommend that you review the Release
  8. Notes that come with the software.
  9.  
  10. This file contains the following:

  18. 1. Retrieving the WinSPIRS 2.1 Software
  19. ---------------------------------------

  21.    To install WinSPIRS 2.1, download the win21.exe from the SilverPlatter
  22.    FTP site:
  23.  
  24.      ftp://ftp.silverplatter.com/software/winspirs2.1/
  25.  
  26.    You can also download this file via the SilverPlatter web site:

  28.      http://www.silverplatter.com  From this site, follow the links to
  29.      the WinSPIRS software directory.

  31.    To download the software from the SilverPlatter FTP site:
  32.      
  33.      1. Log on to your Internet account.
  34.      2. At the Internet prompt, type
  35.         open ftp.silverplatter.com
  36.      or use the following IP address: open 192.80.71.12
  37.      3. When prompted for a user name, type
  38.         anonymous
  39.      4. When asked for a password, type your full electronic
  40.         mail address (for example, jdoe@test.com).
  41.      5. Type "cd software/winspirs2.1" to go to the sub-directory that
  42.         contains the software to download.
  43.      6. Download win21.exe for the WinSPIRS 2.1 self-extracting file.

  46. 2. Installing WinSPIRS 2.1
  47. --------------------------
  48.  
  49.    Copy the win21.exe file to a temporary directory and run the file
  50.    (in Windows 95, click Start on the Taskbar, click Run, and type the
  51.    directory and filename) to begin the installation. Then follow the
  52.    instructions on your screen to install the WinSPIRS basic version.
  53.  
  54.    Note: Before you install WinSPIRS you should close all other applications
  55.          to avoid conflicts installing shared files.
  56.  
  57.    In this version of WinSPIRS, new versions of ctl3dv2.dll and cmdialog.vbx
  58.    are included. During installation you can confirm the replacement of an
  59.    older versions of the file. Older versions are saved as backup.

  61.    If you get problems with shared files on installing, reboot and make sure
  62.    that Windows Startup doesn't start any other Windows applications.

  65. 3. Adding the French, German, Spanish Language Interfaces
  66. ---------------------------------------------------------

  68.    The WinSPIRS interface is available in French, German and Spanish. 
  69.    To install any of these languages:
  70.  
  71.      1. Install the basic WinSPIRS (See Chapter 1 of the WinSPIRS User's
  72.         Manual).
  73.      2. Locate the appropriate language files. From the SilverPlatter FTP
  74.         site, go to the WinSPIRS 2.1 directory;
  75.  
  76.            ftp://ftp.silverplatter.com/software/winspirs2.1/
  77.  
  78.         and download these files:
  79.  
  80.         * german.z - for the German language interface.
  81.         * french.z - for the French language interface.
  82.         * spanish.z  - for the Spanish language interface.

  84.      3. Copy the files for the languages you want to install to:
  85.  
  86.         ..\winspirs\language
  87.  
  88.      4. Run the Add Language program:
  89.  
  90.         * Double-click the Add Language icon in the WinSPIRS program group
  91.           or
  92.         * Change to the ..\winpsirs\language directory and run setup.exe
  93.  
  94.      5. Follow the screen instructions. At the Choose Components screen, make
  95.         sure that the language interfaces you want to add are checked.
  96.  
  97.    Once you have added languages as described above, you can set the default
  98.    language for WinSPIRS. In the Reconfiguration program, open the
  99.    Workstation Options dialog. Near the bottom is the Language prompt where
  100.    you can choose the language you want to be the default.
