  32. 1.0  PRODUCT LICENSE AGREEMENT

  34. THIS IS AN EVALUATION COPY OF THE SOFTWARE. YOU MAY
  35. USE THE SOFTWARE FOR ONLY THIRTY DAYS.

  37. After thirty days, you must either buy the software 
  38. from Network Associates, Inc. or remove it from your 
  39. computer and stop using it. If you are evaluating 
  40. the software for corporate use and need longer than

  73.     of this license agreement. You agree you will copy
  74.     the SOFTWARE into any machine-readable or printed 
  75.     form only as necessary to use it in accordance with
  76.     this license or for backup purposes in support of 
  77.     your use of the SOFTWARE in accordance with this 
  78.     license. You may:

  80.       (i)  UPLOAD THIS SOFTWARE TO ANY ELECTRONIC

  82.       (ii) DEMONSTRATE THE SOFTWARE AND ITS

  93.     This license is effective until the thirtieth 
  94.     (30th) day following the date you installed the
  95.     SOFTWARE. At that time, you must cease use of the
  96.     SOFTWARE and remove it from your computer, unless
  97.     you have paid the current registration fee. You may
  98.     terminate this agreement at any point by destroying 
  99.     the SOFTWARE together with all copies of the
  100.     SOFTWARE. Also, NETWORK ASSOCIATES, INC. has the 
  101.     option to terminate if you fail to comply with any 
  102.     term or condition of this agreement. You agree upon
  103.     such termination to destroy the SOFTWARE together 
  104.     with all copies of the SOFTWARE.

  106. 2.  COPYRIGHT. The SOFTWARE is protected by United
  107.     States copyright law and international treaty
  108.     provisions. You acknowledge that no title to the
  109.     intellectual property in the SOFTWARE is
  110.     transferred to you. You further acknowledge that
  111.     title and full ownership rights to the SOFTWARE
  112.     will remain the exclusive property of NETWORK
  113.     ASSOCIATES or its suppliers, and you will not 
  114.     acquire any rights to the SOFTWARE except as 
  115.     expressly set forth in this license. You agree 
  116.     that any copies of the SOFTWARE will contain the 
  117.     same proprietary notices which appear on and in 
  118.     the SOFTWARE.

  120. 3.  REVERSE ENGINEERING. You agree that you will not
  121.     attempt to reverse compile, modify, translate, or
  122.     disassemble the SOFTWARE in whole or in part.

  124. 4.  WARRANTY RIGHTS. As this is an evaluation copy,
  125.     NETWORK ASSOCIATES and its suppliers make NO 
  126.     WARRANTIES with respect to the SOFTWARE. The 
  127.     SOFTWARE is distributed to you AS IS, WHERE IS, 
  128.     AND WITH ALL FAULTS. In the event of registration, 
  129.     NETWORK ASSOCIATES will grant you certain warranty

  156.     EVENT SHALL NETWORK ASSOCIATES OR ITS SUPPLIERS 
  157.     BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, 
  158.     INCIDENTAL, OR INDIRECT DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING 
  159.     OUT OF THE DELIVERY, PERFORMANCE, OR USE OF THE 
  160.     SOFTWARE, EVEN IF NETWORk ASSOCIATES HAS BEEN 
  161.     ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO 
  162.     EVENT WILL NETWORK ASSOCIATES LIABILITY FOR ANY 
  163.     CLAIM, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER

  167. 8.  GOVERNING LAW. This license will be governed by the
  168.     internal laws of the State of California. The 
  169.     United Nations Convention on Contracts for the 
  170.     International Sale of Goods is specifically

  173. 9.  ENTIRE AGREEMENT. This is the entire agreement 
  174.     between you and NETWORK ASSOCIATES, which 
  175.     supersedes any prior agreement or understanding,
  176.     whether written or oral, relating to the subject 
  177.     matter of this license.

  179. U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS
  180. Any distribution or license of the SOFTWARE to the 
  181. U. S. Government or its agencies or instrumentalities
  182. (the "GOVERNMENT") is made only with RESTRICTED RIGHTS.
  183. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the GOVERNMENT is 
  184. subject to restriction as set forth in subparagraph
  185. (c) (1) (ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and 
  186. Computer Software clause at DFAR 252.227-7013, or as 
  187. set forth in the particular department or agency 
  188. regulations or rules that provide NETWORK ASSOCIATES
  189. protection equivalent to or greater than the above-cited

  542. Before you install a Network Associates product that 
  543. you've downloaded from an online service, you'll want 
  544. to verify that the files you downloaded are exactly 
  545. the same as when we posted them online. We recommend 
  546. you perform this task for maximum anti-virus protection. 
  547. Read the following paragraphs to learn how to validate 
  548. your file.
  549.  
  550. Included in the files you downloaded is the Validate 
  551. program. Validate is a file-authentication program 
  552. that you can use to check program files for signs of 
  553. tampering. Validate uses two methods of generating Cyclic 
  554. Redundancy Checks (CRCs), and then displays the information 
  555. so you can compare these statistics against the "known 
  556. value" for the program files. The dual CRC checking provides 
  557. a high degree of security. The known value you use for 
  558. validation usually is provided by the author of the program, 
  559. or you may receive it from a trusted information database. 
  560. You can find the statistics for this Network Associates 
  561. product in the file PACKING.LST.
  562.  
  563. To confirm that a program file has not been tampered with, run 
  564. the Validate program and record the validation data produced.
  565. Compare this data against the file statistics the program 
  566. author has specified. If the information matches, most likely 
  567. the program has not been modified since the files were 
  568. placed online.
  569.  
  570. To run Validate, enter the following command:

  572.     VALIDATE <pathspec>
  573.  
  574. where <pathspec> is the name of a directory and file. The
  575. wildcard characters * and ? can be used when specifying
  576. <pathspec>.

  578. The Validate program displays the name of the directory
  579. that contains the file you're validating, the name of
  580. the file itself, its size, date and time, and two values
  581. for check methods. An example appears below:
