  19. The SmallEiffel Team is an informal group of people in the 
  20. <A HREF="http://www.loria.fr">LORIA</A> lab of Nancy, France, 
  21. gathered around the development of new compilation techniques 
  22. for object-oriented languages and their implementation in 
  23. SmallEiffel, The GNU Eiffel compiler.
  24. Most of us are members of the 
  25. <A HREF="http://www.loria.fr/equipes/ecoo">ECOO research team</A> 
  26. of the LORIA.

  42. Dominique COLNET is the one who initiated the SmallEiffel project 
  43. in Summer 1994. His goal was to create an inexpensive, bug-free 
  44. advanced Eiffel compiler, unlike those already available on the market.<BR>
  45. He has been the leader of this project as well as its key designer and 
  46. implementator since then.

  48. on the chronology of the SmallEiffel project).<BR><BR>

  68. the field of image processing and augmented reality.<BR><BR>

  86. on SmallEiffel in late 1994 - early 1995. He had many conceptual 
  87. and technical discussions with Dominique about languages, 
  88. anchored types, ANSI C, garbage collection, etc. and participated 
  89. to the first bootstrap. He also maintains the SmallEiffel Web site.
  90. He was able to join the ECOO research team in late 1997 and 
  91. thus is now working almost full-time on SmallEiffel.

  117. After being a student of Dominique, and in charge of the Macintosh-ready 
  118. versions of SmallEiffel during his free-time since 1996, Philippe joined the 
  119. SmallEiffel team of the ECOO research team between February and September 1998 
  120. for his  Master thesis. He worked more especially on the garbage collector.

  136. students of the University Henri Poincaré of Nancy, France. They tested and 
  137. benchmarked it, providing very useful information in the early days of 
  138. SmallEiffel.</P>

  140. Then, many people, either working in computer engineering or computer science, or
  141. simply users working in various academic and business fields, took part in the
  142. process of improving SmallEiffel. Since it became The GNU Eiffel Compiler, in 
  143. early 1998, even more people are helping its development.
