VDENEC.DOC
This is a pre-installed version of E. Meyer's superb
VDE266.COM for running on the NEC8500 CP/M laptop. The
STARLET 8401LS installation would have sufficed, but
adjusting those parameters a little allows the user to
benefit from the screen-size difference of the 8500 as well as
making VDE operate a little better on either machine.
1. Screen now will permit viewing of 24 lines.
2. Automatically changes 8500's terminal MODE on startup to
SOROC before displaying VDE.
3. Automatically changes MODE back to VT100 upon exiting VDE.
4. Retains function key display. Sorry, but there is not
enough room for both automatic MODE change code and function
key display code.
5. ID changed to identify new terminal installation type.
Use VINST266.COM to review other installation terminal and printer
options to ensure that my selections conform to your desires. Adjust
where desirable (i.e., printer code, file mode, etc.). Adjusting
these other installation options will not alter the changes listed
in #1-4, above.
STARLET 8401LS
Those with the smaller screen 8401LS also can benefit from most
of the changes in VDENEC.COM. However, you should not alter the
number of screen display lines (change back to 16). You also don't
have to accept the ID change (might want to change it back to
"Starlet 8401LS," though keeping it as it is here will not affect
how the program performs on the 8401LS).
