MAXIMUM GAME WEIGHT PROCRAM
DOCUMENTATION
THIS PROGRAM IS WRITTEN IN MBASIC FOR THE OSBORNE 1 COMPUTER WITH
CLEAR SCREEN CODE OF CHR$(26). IF YOU HAVE SOME OTHER TYPE OF COMPUTER
SUCH AS AN IBM, CHANGE THE 1st STATEMENT IN THE PROGRAM FROM THE OSB-1
CODE PRINT CHRS(26) TO CLS OR WHAT EVER YOUR MACHINE NEEDS.
This program is based on an article written by EDWARD A. MATUNAS
and published in the December 1988 issue of "THE American Hunter" .
The program is designed to give the rifleman a maximum game weight
for a cartridge at a desired range. The formulas, as developed, have
incorporated a number of different thoughts on bullet impact. To get
an indepth feel for the reasoning behind the program get a copy of the
magazine listed above.
All that you must provide is the velocity of the bullet at the
desired down range point of impact, and the weight of the bullet. It
is also important to choose the correct setting for either a big game
or varmint cartridge. The cartridges are handled differently due to
the violent expansion and minimal penatration that occur with bullets
designed for varmint cartridges and game.
Mr. Matunas has provided the rifleman with an excellent tool to
help him choose the correct cartridge and bullet combo for the game
he plans to hunt. Hope the program is useful to you.
Good Luck,
Charles Cotham
