DESCRIPTION OF AURAL.MWB
This programme was written to give aural (ear) training for music
students. It gives exercises in a very specific area of aural training,
namely interval recognition. This programme assumes that you
have at least a theoretical understanding of musical intervals. If you do
not understand what is meant by a minor 6th (for example) this programme is
probably not of much use to you unless you are prepared to do some homework.
At the opening menu you are asked to set the level of difficulty. The
easiest level is a simple pitch discrimination exercise and does nothing more
than play 2 notes and asks if the 2nd is higher or lower than the first. Each
successive level gets more difficult and it is suggested that you don't
progress to the next level until you can score around 80 or 90% correct at
the current level. (By all means have a look though).
Most levels are quite self explanitary, you simply continue the
exercise until you have had enough or would like to see a progress score
and then hit <R>. Level 5 however has a sub-menu in which you are asked to
select the largest interval that you would liked to have played for
identification.
If you do not have a disk based Microbee, the "System" option at the
opening menu will not be of much use to you.
I wrote this programme in my early days of programming so please don't
consider it a good example of programming structure. If you have any problems
or suggestions please feel free to leave me a message on this BB.
I hope this is of some use to some of you,
Daniel Kaan.
