Thank you!
We are pleased that you have chosen to try The Churchmouse!
Now a word about the product and a word of explanation. The Churchmouse
was originally developed for our church out of necessity to have an at-
tendance oriented mailing list. We packaged it with as many features as
we could think of and worked on it till all the bugs were out. Then we
discovered we liked it so well, we decided to market it. Well, we soon
found out that we aren't a market oriented company, so what to do with
The Churchmouse?
Meanwhile, Pastor Ford commented on the fact that The Churchmouse ran
slow. Well, we explained that The Churchmouse ran fast, but dBase II (tm
Ashton-Tate) ran slow! We immediately set to work rewriting The Church-
mouse in a compiled language and adding several more features. The new
version which runs almost ten times faster is available (or will be when
the manual is finished) for $149.00. As you can see, the original version
is now in the public domain.
Try this version first. Type DBASE CM on your computer and see what hap-
pens. Type RETURN twice to get to the main screen, and then if you have a
problem type a '?'. The help screens should answer the majority of your
questions, but if you want real documentation, a well written manual is
available for five dollars including shipping from:
GPS Microdata, Inc.
219 East Division Street
Villa Park, IL 60181
A word of warning; if you fall in love with The Churchmouse and can't wait
to get your hands on the compiled version, be advised that the data base
files aren't compatible. Either all your names will have to be entered
again, or if you send us a diskette with your list on it (in one of the
many formats we can read), we will convert it for you here for merely the
cost of packaging and shipping!
Enjoy The Churchmouse. Write us with your comments and suggestions. Or
call us at (312) 833-8122.
Now go forth to do the work of The Lord!
P. S. We run the majority of our programs under CP/M (tm Digital Research).
If you wish to run The Churchmouse on an IBM PC (tm IBM), you must first
rename all five files with the CMD filetype to a PGM filetype. In other
words type REN CM.CMD CM.PGM. Do the same with the other four CMD files.
We tested The Churchmouse on an IBM clone and it runs fine.
