The computer will calculate your strength and that of the creature.
The outcome is pre-determined by your SKILL and the attack strength
you have, as compared to that of the the creature. This will be
calculated each and every time you fight any creature and at each and
every encounter with that or any creature. You can also use your LUCK
in these circumstances. The only outcome of an attack is DEATH for
either you or the creature.
ESCAPING
At some stages during the game you will be given the option of running
away from a battle should things be going wrong badly for you. However,
if you do run away, the creature will automatically wound you and part
of your stamina will be depleted as you flee. Such is the price for
cowardice. You may use your LUCK on the wound in the normal way. You
may only ESCAPE if that option is specifically given to you.
FIGHTING MORE THAN ONE CREATURE
The problem of fighting two creatures is similar to that of fighting
one but sometimes they will treated as a single creature or you may
have to fight each of them in turn.
LUCK
At various times during this adventure, either in battles or where you
come across situations in which you could be either be LUCKY or UNLUCKY,
you may call on your luck to make the outcome more favorable.
BEWARE! Using luck is a risky business and if you are unlucky, the
results could be disastrous. Once again, LUCK is decided at the start
of the game. At times you will be asked if you wish to test your luck.
The procedure is known as `TESTING YOUR LUCK' and each time you test
your luck you will loose some of it. Also when you use your luck the
amount you have will naturally diminish
èUSING LUCK IN BATTLES
At times, your luck will be automatically tested and you will be told of
the outcome of the test. However, in battles, you always have the OPTION
of using your luck either to inflict a more serious wound on a creature
you have just wounded, or to minimize the effects of a wound the
creature has inflicted on you.
If you have wounded a creature you may test your luck. If you are lucky
you have inflicted a severe wound and your chances of defeating the
creature are greater. However, if you are unlucky, the wound you
inflicted was a mere graze and you will be less likely to win the
encounter. If the creature has just wounded you, you may
`TEST YOUR LUCK' to try to minimize the wound. If you are lucky, your
STAMINA will be increased but if you are unlucky the blow you received
will have caused a loss of some of your STAMINA.
REMEMBER some luck is lost each time you test it.
RESTORING SKILL, STAMINA AND LUCK
SKILL
Your SKILL will not change much during your adventure. Sometimes your
your skill may be INCREASED or DECREASED. A magic weapon may increase
your skill, but remember, only one weapon can be used at a time. Your
skill can never exceed its initial value unless you are specifically
told it has. You may only restore your skill by using a SKILL SPELL.
STAMINA
Your stamina will change a lot during your adventure as you fight
as you creatures and injure yourself. You may only restore your STAMINA
score by casting a STAMINA SPELL. You are well advised to ensure that
you include several Stamina Spells in your original choice of spells.
Remember also that your STAMINA may never exceed its initial value.
LUCK
Your luck may change during the game and you will be told when this
happens. As with skill and stamina, your luck may not exceed its initial
value. You may otherwise only restore your luck by using a LUCK SPELL.

MAGIC SPELLS
CREATURE COPY
This spell will allow you to conjure up an exact duplicate of any
creature you are fighting. The duplicate will have the same SKILL and
STAMINA, and the same powers as its original, but the duplicate will be
under the control of your will and you may, for example, instruct it to
attack the original creature, then you wait the outcome of the battle.
MAGIC SPELLS
EXTRA SENSORY PERCEPTION (E.S.P.)
With this spell you will be able to tune in to psychic wavelengths. It
may help you to read a creatures mind or may tell you what's behind a
locked door. However, it is sometimes prone to give misleading
information if more than one psychic source is close to another.

FIRE
Every creature is afraid of fire. This spell allows you to conjure up
fire at will. You may cause a small explosion on the ground which will
burn for several seconds or you may create a wall of fire to keep
creatures at bay.

FOOL'S GOLD
This spell will turn an ordinary rock into a pile of what appears to be
ordinary gold. However, the spell is nearly the form of illusion spell
although more reliable than the Illusion Spell - and the pile of gold
will soon turn back into a pile of rock.

LEVITATION
You may cast this spell onto objects, opponents and even yourself. It
frees its receiver from the effects of gravity and as such will cause
the receiver to float freely in the air, under your control.
MAGIC SPELLS
LUCK
This spell, along with Skill and Stamina Spells, is special in that may
be cast at any time during your adventure, except in battle. You needènot wait for the option of casting a spell. Once cast, it will restore
your LUCK by half your INITIAL luck amount. This spell will never take
your LUCK over its initial level. Thus, if you cast two (2) luck spells
together, your LUCK will only be restored to its initial level.

SHIELDING
Casting this spell creates an invisible shield in front of you which
will protect you from physical objects, eg. arrows, swords or creatures.
This shield is not effective against magic and, of course, if nothing
outside it can touch you, you will not be able to touch anything
outside it.

SKILL
This spell will replenish your skill by half its initial value, and may
be cast at any time during your adventure, except in battle. For the
rules see LUCK spells above. The Skill spell works exactly the same.

This spell will replenish your STAMINA by half its initial value, and
may be cast at any time, except in battle. See luck spell for details.

STRENGTH
This spell has the effect of increasing your strength greatly and is
very useful when battling strong creatures. However, it must be
exercised with caution as it is difficult to control your own strength
when it is suddenly increased by so much!
MAGIC SPELLS
WEAKNESS
Strong creatures are reduced by this spell to miserable weaklings. It is
not successful against all creatures but when it is effective, they
become puny and much less of a challenge in battle.
