I think it might go like this Terry...
if a law goes against a constitutional amendment then THAT is
considered unconstitutional....if a law violates ones cival rights
then THATis considered unconstitutional....but i can not see how
making the waring of a seatbelt would be considered as
unconstitutional.....

Commodore Amiga 2000 Accelerator
Model A2620
68020 - 14Mhz
68881 Math-coprocessor 15.3Mhz
68851 Memory Management Unit for Unix applications, and mapping of
Kickstart ROMs to 32 bit memory.
2Mb of 32 bit RAM installed (Expandable to 4Mb of 32 bit RAM)
Uses CPU slot, no need to rip out your stock 68000. Processor
is selectable on bootup either 68000 or 68020. Great option for
maximum compatability for those awkward programs that do not like
acceleration. Also recognizes other expansion card memory you may
have installed. This accelerator is faster than an Amiga 1200,
which has neither MMU, because the 1200 uses a 68ec020, which is an
economy version, and the math-co is optional on the 1200.
Requiring the purchase of not only the chip itself, but an entire
board that conects to it.
Asking $300, or best reasonable offer.

Mike-
Sounds like a good price for the 1571. I have one question
though...The 1571 I have right now is screwed up, and I've been told
by CEBUG people that it's a faulty rom chip...It has trouble reading
1541 stuff in 1571 mode and in 1571 mode it seems to only enjoy
reading disks that it has formatted itself. In other words, its
giving me a hard time, and I've been told the only way I can correct
it is to install JiffyDos.
So what I'm getting down to is that I need to know if your 1571 is
fully operational in both modes...
Your reply will be appreciated!

Looks like you didn't have to wait too long for the upload problem.
It is sad to say that I have always had trouble with the uploads in
one way or another... Thank you, Mike Pugliese for correcting the
problem with lightning speed.
I understand how you feel about the simms... I will be starting my
system with at least 8-megs when the RamLink is installed. Who wants
to load a ram only to have to back it up and upgrade it too soon.
Save the name and Number I gave you for future reference...

Speaking of seat belt laws... either it's an error in the
program, or is still true, but here goes:
I used to vacation up in Vermont every summer (yes, summer, not
a skier, but there's plenty of things to do up there). So when I
purchased AutoMap for Windows and was playing around with it, I
clicked on the information icon for Vermont. According to AutoMap,
as of 1992, Seat Belts are still not required in the state. Is this
true (I have my qualms about trusting the program, while planning a
sample driving tour from my town to Alaska, it told me to get on the
road "Unknown" at some point in the trip). Also, what other states
have this rule?

Actually, its from Karl Marx. I don't watch television any more so I
don't know what "Survivors" is all about, but if it was a BBC production
then it's kind of an inside joke. This show wouldn't date from roughly
1974 by any chance, would it? More or less the highlight of Marxist
agitation in recent British history. The BBC has always been seen as
slightly left of centre (while a number of its employees, especially in
the early seventies, would have been Marxist, it would be pushing things
to say that they were representative of "Aunty's" political tenor), and
has been slaughtered in recent years (all of Thatcher's tenure) because
it has been seen as hostile to the Tories and Maggs personally.
Bad news for a public utility to fall awry of Maggs. She lopped off seve
ral dozen Departmental Chairs at Oxford (or was it Cambridge? I can't
remember) when she was refused an honorary degree.

B
Ah Bob. And just when I was begining to think that I agreed with you on
most things we've batted around here. Opening the "floodgate to
wetbacks", eh? Hmmm. Where to start?
OK. I'll start here. Let's set aside the racist epithet for a moment,
because I believe that this kind of hostility has its roots somewhere
that we're not getting at right now. When the business elites and
politicians in both our countries talk about opening our borders to
"GLOBAL COMPETITION", they are using a buzzword that demands that we read
between the lines. What they say it means is that in a Free Trade
agreement all businesses in all countries involved need to reach an
absolute level of efficiency so that their product sells and their
surplus value (whoops! profits.) exceed their fixed (plant) and variable
(labour) costs by more than their competition. This works in a tight
little logic that seems self evident to anyone who hears it. Hell, I even
start nodding my head when some biznob with lots of facts and figures
goes through the story.
But there's another side to this story that the logic of Global
Competition doesn't like to let on about in your local newspaper's
financial section. The competition isn't so much between BUSINESS as it
is amongst LABOUR! Free Trade agreements work best for multinational
corporations who already have interests in all countries involved. And
with the extra help of something like NAFTA they have extra ammunition to
wage war against communities. A company like Pepsi Cola comes to the
mayor of your town, saying they're thinking about locating there. Great!
Says the mayor (and you, 'cause you're out of work and need the job). But
then the kicker: seems that the sunbelt states have no unions, lax labour
codes, lax environmental standards and lower minimum wages.
So, your mayor (and you) have a panic attack. You'll do anything to get
those jobs. You'll not only lower your standards, but you'll let the
mayor defer the company's property taxes for life, provide it with free
utility hook-ups. Maybe your town has a better credit rating than the
company does, so Mr. Mayor takes out a loan on behalf of this company,
with very favourable rates of interest (for the company).
I've taken the example of this happening WITHIN the United States for a
reason. The parallel logic to "Global Competitiveness" is xenophobia and
racism. Fear of the "wetbacks" either coming into our country or
competing with us on the market. Either way, we think we loose jobs.
But those jobs get lost all the time anyway.
This is a very convenient anger for Capital to foster. It averts
people's recognition from what's really happening. Capital is fluid, it
"has no borders" even WITHIN a particular country. It plays off one
community against another, whether its Atlantic City versus Houston
Texas, or Toronto against Mexico City. Communities literally tear
themselves apart again and again to ensure that a given concern locates
in their place. And when you do a cut-n-dried cost/benefit study, saying
*nothing* of the social costs, you almost always find out that the
community comes out the loser (examples on request-they are infinite).
The point is, my friend, if anything is to be done about this sorry state
of affairs, and people's absolute powerlessness in the face of Capital,
we have to learn to work *together*. This "wetback" bull is highly
profitable for people who don't need those profits. It stops collective
action.
The place to start (IMHO) is to begin some kind of agreement amongst all
communities in North America (utopian, yeah, but you gotta start
somewhere) that would bind them in agreement not to engage with suicidal
competition with their neighbours for capital's location. That way, if
your community wasn't willing to shred itself at the pleasure of Pepsi,
Pepsi couldn't just find a lower bidder 200 miles away.
(Sorry to pick on Pepsi here, I just have a can by the terminal!) Anyway,
I don't know if you buy this or not, Bob, but I'm not going to give you
some selfrighteous line about racism. I'm trying to show you some of its
economic roots. Hispanics aren't your enemy, and if we not just "learn to
live together" (a hackneyed phrase), but actively *worked* against the
real enemy, we might have a chance. (Call it "Community Unionism"?)
If we stay divided on such demagogic myths as racism, we haven't got a
hope.
Sorry for the length.
-Peace,
Brian.

I don't know of one - sorry.
Are you looking for a universal tide prediction program - the time of
a high tide anywhere, or just locally? It would be pretty easy to
write a program for local tides anywhere, but I am unsure if there is
a way of universally calculating tides - in other words, I don't know
if there is a formula (rule of thumb?) that could privide
calculations by, say, longitude and latitude or whatever.

Not quite right...That is not what I am saying nor is it sensible.
Every law on the books forces someone to do something they don't want
to do or forces someone not to do something they want.
What I am saying is that any law which forces you to do or not do
something against your will that has no bearing on the health and
well being of another is unconstitutional and illegal, not to mention
absurd.
Now the yuppie dweebs in this country are trying to make mandatory
helmet use for bicycles - it is getting more ridiculous every day.
Not only is this unconstitional and illegal, but quite silly. In all
the years I rode a bicycle and all my friends did likewise, not a
single one every received an injury that those stupid plastic yuppie
bedpans with straps would have prevented. The only injuries I or
anyone I know ever received were skinned elbows and knees, and an
occasional road burn on the chin or butt.
Mark my words...before all is said and done we will have similar laws
shoved down our throats that effect us within the confines of our own
homes and property. That will be the day I exercise my right to bear
arms!!!
