  4. BRADFORD.COM, the Near Letter Quality program by Aaron Contorer,
  5. is a piece of "share-ware."  Only partial instructions come with
  6. the program;  users should send $15 to the author to get an 18
  7. page manual.

  9. This file is an incomplete "cheat" file;  a list of BRADFORD
  10. commands and (sometimes) what they do.  This is NOT intended to
  11. keep Mr. Contorer from selling his instruction books.  I think
  12. it will actually help, by showing there's much more to BRADFORD
  13. than meets the eye.

  15. This file only covers the "in-text" commands available. The menu
  16. selections of the program should be self explanatory.

  18. BRADFORD in-text commands consist of a command indicator, a two
  19. letter command, and (sometimes) a numeric or character argument
  20. (all run together, no spaces).  The command character is set by
  21. the user when the program starts up;  generally "." is used. 
  22. This is convenient for WORD STAR users.  Like WORD STAR,
  23. BRADFORD commands stand alone on a line, starting in column 1.

  28. takes numeric argument, "c" means character arg.  A "??" means
  29. I haven't figured out how to use it.  And don't take my word for
  30. anything, if you really want to know how to use BRADFORD, buy

  110. Define Control is for defining extra printer controls.  It takes
  111. two added characters.  First is the control you are defining,
  112. second is what you are defining it to.  Some examples:

  121. The .dcb switch defines the 'bold print toggle'

  126. Normally you would set up any special DCs at the beginning of
  127. your file.  There are probably more than the four shown in the
  128. sample file, but I haven't found them yet.

  130. When you select WORD STAR File and Justify from the front menu,
  131. BRADFORD will only justify lines with "soft" carriage returns. 
  132. It recognizes "hard" carriage returns as paragraph breaks.  The
  133. .DCC and .DCL are handy for marking paragraph breaks in non-Word
  134. Star documents.

  138. BUGS & QUIRKS:
  139.  
  140. If a line is too long for specified margins, it will extend past
  141. them -- sometimes BRADFORD has trouble justifying long lines.
  142.  
  143. If a line is too long for the page, it is cut off, not wrapped.
  144.  
  145. Soft hyphens sometimes give unpredictable results.
  146.  
  147. Here's a genuine bug, and it's hard to explain:  If you make a
  148. mistake when giving a file name and the user area, BRADFORD can
  149. get "lost" -- which might keep it from finding it's font files.
  150. You have to see it happen to understand it; here's what I mean:
