  10.     SIG/M is a joint undertaking of the Amateur Computer Group
  11. of New Jersey (ACGNJ) and the New York Amateur Computer Club (NYAC).
  12. It is a not-for-profit group that distributes public domain software
  13. world wide.
  14.  
  15.     As of February 1, 1986 SIG/M has in distribution 256 volumes
  16. of 8" CP/M software (240 K each disk). These volumes range from 
  17. applications to utilities to languages, etc.
  18.  
  19.     Volumes 800 and 801 are sample disks of programs for the
  20. Commodore. Volume 800 has been provided by the SYSOP of the CP/M
  21. SIG on Compuserve and contains modem programs for the Commodore. Also
  22. from Compuserve and Commodore are instructions and an article on
  23. updating C128 CP/M.

  25.     SIG/M periodically publishes a printed catalog of its software
  26. and monthly releases an updated disk catalog.  On this disk too is a
  27. catalog listing of volumes from 151 to 256.

  29.     The companion disk, volume 801, contains utility programs 
  30. that we were able to run on the C128 with ease.  Please try them -
  31. and then examine the other volumes in the library that interest you. 
  32. Volume 801 also contains a list of regional distribution points for
  33. SIG/M software.

  35.     One big difference between SIG/M software and some of the
  36. programs you may have used. Public domain software has been contributed
  37. by the authors for use of the public.  Most of it works - and works well.
  38. When people discover bugs or upgrade it - they are expected to release
  39. the new program back to the public (that does not mean a new version
  40. for every minor change).  If you can't figure out how to use the 
  41. software - we suggest you join a user group and seek help there. Please
  42. do not write either SIG/M or the authors to do your homework to teach
  43. you how to use CP/M.
