  8. This is to announce Release 4.3 of Kermit-370 for TSO.    The sources have
  9. not been completely rewritten, but numerous fixes, extensions, and
  10. improvements have been inserted.  The changes in 4.3 include all updates
  11. formerly available in IKTKER.UPD plus many new ones.  Parts of the
  12. source have been resequenced: IKTMAC.ASM, IK0DEF.ASM, IK0CMD.ASM,
  13. IK0KAN.ASM, IKTUTL.ASM, and IK0PRO.ASM, and any local mods affecting
  14. these parts will need to be changed accordingly.  As with previous
  15. releases, all TSO-specific files begin with IKT, and generic Kermit-370
  16. files begin with IK0 (I K Zero).  See the file IKTKER.INS for
  17. installation instructions.  Most of the distribution files have been
  18. replaced, including IKTKER.INS, plus the assembler sources and the
  19. "beware", help, and update files.  Release 4.3 is also being issued in
  20. the companion CMS, MUSIC, and CICS variants (see the separate
  21. announcements for details).  As usual, the ROSCOE variant is obtained as
  22. a small change from the TSO variant.  Anyone interested in helping to
  23. port Kermit-370 to still other operating systems should contact John
  24. Chandler <JCHBN@CUVMB.BITNET> or <JCHBN@CUVMB.CC.COLUMBIA.EDU>.

  26. For a list of generic additions, see the generic Kermit-370 announcement
  27. IK0KER.ANN.  The following is a list of TSO-specific updates added since
  28. Release 4.2, including many that were already available in intermediate
  29. releases.

  31. 1) When downloading ISPF PDS members, Kermit-TSO now uses the ISPF
  32.    modification date as the time stamp (if attributes are enabled).
  33.  
  34. 2) The format of KER.LOG for SET DEBUG I/O has been extended to give
  35.    hexadecimal buffer dumps like those of CMS Kermit.
  36.  
  37. 3) Correct UNIT selection for new datasets uploaded to TSO.  This fixes
  38.    a bug introduced with version 4.1.
  39.  
  40. 4) Multiple subcommands allowed on the initial invocation command line,
  41.    provided the Kermit delimiter is defined in one of the initialization
  42.    files.
  43.  
  44. 5) Current status code available to CLIST's as &LASTCC.
  45.  
  46. 6) Now comes with a file of sample auxilliary CLIST's for use with
  47.    Kermit (IKTAUX.CMD).     These include KERMAIL, KERMPRT, and PC.

  49. 7) Now recovers cleanly if the user specifies an erroneous CWD string.

  51. 8) Now supports relative generation numbers for GDG's for both sending
  52.    and receiving files.
