  1.                MICROVAX/VMS TK50 KERMIT DISTRIBUTION INFORMATION

  5. There are two TK50 distribution tapes, TKV1 and TKV2.  TKV1 is equivalent
  6. to Kermit tapes A, B, and E (popular micros - A, popular minis & mainframes -
  7. B, and online documentation).  TKV2 is equivalent to tapes C, D, and E
  8. (less popular micros, minis & mainframes, plus documentation).

  10. These tapes are readable on MicroVAX/VMS systems with BACKUP (not COPY).
  11. To read the tape:
  12.  
  13. 1. SET DEFAULT to the directory under which you want the various Kermit
  14.    subdirectories created.
  15.  
  16. 2. Physically mount the TK50 cartridge, and type "MOUNT $TAPE1/FOREIGN".
  17.  
  18. 3. Type "BACKUP/LOG $TAPE1/SAVE [.*]".
  19.  
  20. After some time has passed -- about 30-60 minutes -- the files should be
  21. in several subdirectories of your current directory.  These subdirectories
  22. will have names like [KERMIT], [KERMIT-2], [KERMIT-3], etc.
