  32. It will show you how to use the software, it includes a course in the
  33. fundamentals of data communication, it will teach you how to write script
  34. programs, it is full of examples, tables, illustrations, and so on.  The
  35. Kermit development is funded primarily by sales of manuals.

  37. THE C-KERMIT DISKETTE
  38.  
  39. This diskette contains C-Kermit 5A(190) for the version of UNIX that is marked
  40. on the label.  This is a DOS-format diskette containing the Kermit executable,
  41. plus the text files listed below.  Text files are in UNIX format, so you can
  42. move all of the files from this diskette to your UNIX file system in binary
  43. mode.

  45. The files on this diskette are:
  46.  
  47. read.me     - This file.
  48.  
  49. kermit      - The C-Kermit executable.  After copying to a UNIX
  50.               disk, you must chmod +x to give it execute permission.
  51.               In some cases, there might be two or three different
  52.               executables, as marked on the label.  The executable should
  53.               be placed in a directory that is in your PATH, but which
  54.               will not be destroyed by future operating system updates,
  55.               perhaps /usr/local/bin.  Please read ckuins.doc for more
  56.               detailed instructions.

  58. ckuker.nr   - UNIX man page for C-Kermit, to be installed in the system's
  59.               local man page directory.  Format via 'nroff -man'.

  63. The following files should be placed in your home directory:

  65. ckermit.ini - Standard C-Kermit initialization file.  
  66.               Rename to .kermrc and place in your home directory.

  68. ckermod.ini - Sample C-Kermit customization file.  Rename to .mykermrc and
  69.               place in your home directory, and then make any desired 
  70.               customizations.

  72. ckermit.kdd - Sample dialing directory file.  Replace this with your own
  73.               dialing directory in the same format, and rename it to .kdd
  74.               in your home directory.

  76. ckermit.ksd - Sample services directory.  Replace this with your own services
  77.               directory in the same format, and rename to .ksd in your home
  78.               directory.

  81. /usr/local/lib/kermit, with world read permission:

  90. ckedemo.ini, cketest.ini, ckevt.ini -
  91.               Macro definitions used in "Using C-Kermit".  You can TAKE
  92.               these files from the C-Kermit prompt to check the operation of
  93.               many of C-Kermit's script programming features.

  95. ckurzsz.ini - Defines macros for running rz and sz as external protocols.
  96.               Read the ckurzsz.ini file for further information.
