BUSINESS PARTNER DEMO MANUAL
Please read the following instructions carefully in order to properly
install this demonstration disk
INSTALLING BUSINESS PARTNER FOR YOUR COMPUTER,BUSINESS
Make sure that the demo disk is in drive A: and that your computer
is set to read this drive. You should see A> on your monitor.
Type the word BPINST and press return
The install screen will appear and the cursor will be at the first
field PASSWORD.. Type in any password you wish - numbers are best
!.... Remember your password as you will need to use it in order to
gain priority access into the program later. Press the RETURN or
ENTER key and the cursor will drop down to the next prompt.
Continue answering all the prompts as needed, notice that you can
set the sales tax rate and late payment interest etc. The printer
commands should be fine as is, if you find they do not work on your
printer then refer to your printer manual for the correct codes
Once you have finished filling out the install screen to your
satisfaction press the F = File and quit key to store your choices.
YOU ARE NOW READY TO START THE DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM !
Type the letters BP and press return or enter
You should now see the BUSINESS PARTNER master screen which is
divided into four windows

USING BUSINESS PARTNER DEMO DISK
Please take your time, make sure you understand each part of this
section prior to preceding to the next. If you have problems just
press the ESCape key a couple of times to back out of the last
activity. You can Quit the program at any time by pressing Q then
answering Yes.. Nothing will be damaged !

HOW TO USE BUSINESS PARTNER : = ******* GETTING STARTED ********

Notice that the Customer Window is Highlighted at the top title. The
highlighted bar indicates that you will be working in the Customer
window. Press the right arrow key and the highlighted bar will move
to the Inventory window and then to the Invoice Window and then back
to the Customer window each time you press the right arrow key.
Make sure the Customer window is highlighted then look at the Master
menu window for your choices. Remember the Highlighted (first)
letter is the command key for each choice.
SEARCHING FOR CUSTOMERS
Press the Down arrow key and watch the highlighted customer name
change, press the up arrow key and watch the window scroll back up.
Press the END key and you go to the end of the customer list, the
HOME key takes you back to the beginning of the list or

Press the S key for a search and the Master Menu changes to a new
window "Search Text". Enter all or part of any customers name on the
list and then press enter. The computer will search for and
highlight any name that has that string of letters or numbers. If
the first choice the computer presents you with is not correct then
use the down arrow for the next choice... When you find the name you
wish highlighted press the ESC key and the Search is ended.
NOTE: You use the same procedure for Customers, Payables and
Inventory items !
EDITING A CUSTOMER
Highlight any customer name in the Customer window then press the
E=edit customer as shown on the Master Menu window. The screen will
change to the Customer information screen and you can edit that
window as shown on the Master Menu window.
DELETING A CUSTOMER
Highlight the customer you wish to delete and press the D=delete
item command key and answer the prompt "are you sure Y/N" with Y if
you are sure, N if this is the wrong customer
PRIORITY ACCESS
In the above chapters you probably noticed that there were some
fields that were not available for activity, such as the Credit limit
and balance due. You can access and change this information if you
have priority access.
Press the V=verify password command key and you will see
"Enter Password" in the Master Menu window
Enter your secret password exactly as you specified in the
BPInst program and the upper right corner of your screen will show a
highlighted "Priority Access" message. If it is not there you did
not
enter your password correctly and you will have to try again and
maybe even go back and run BPInst from the A>prompt again to get it
right.
To remove priority access from the computer just use the V prompt
again and enter a incorrect password and the access will be deleted.
EDITING INVENTORY ITEMS & CREDITORS
The methods of editing, deleting and adding are the same as the
above for your customers. The screens will be different but the
methods are the same

SEARCHING FOR INVENTORY ITEMS AND CREDITORS
The methods for searching inventory items from either the
inventory window or the Invoice or Purchase Order window are the same
as described above in SEARCHING FOR CUSTOMERS.
POINT OF SALE (Making a Sale on the computer)
First search and highlight the customer in the Customer window,
If you do not wish this customer on your Customer or Receivable list
then use the HOME key and highlight *** Cash Transaction ***
Now using the left or right arrow key move the highlight bar to
the Invoice window.
You can now use the search command from the invoice window for the
inventory items in the inventory window. Just press the S=search key
and describe all or part of the item to be purchased When the item
to be purchased is highlighted in the Inventory window press the ESC
key to cancel the search
Press the I=insert key and the item will be brought down to the
invoice window. Press return and the screen will default to one of
the items. If the customer wanted more than one you would have
entered the quantity they wanted. You will now see the cursor over
the letter R=retail, press return, the unit selling price will now be
displayed. Press return, The bottom right hand Totals window now
shows the extensions with tax added and the total of the invoice to
date.
Search for and locate another item to insert, Press ESC key when
thru then Insert key and follow thru. Notice that when the R key is
highlighted that you have a choice of R=retail, W=wholesale and
L=labor ( these are highlighted in the Totals window ). You can
choose any of the three depending on the type of sale.
When you are thru and ready to print the invoice for this customer
press the P=print invoice key. (look in master menu window for
explanation ).
A window will appear in the middle of the screen asking you to
identify the type of payment or if it is a charge or refund. Choose
the one you wish then look at the top of the screen in the master
menu window and you will see that a message has appeared.
CAUTION: make sure that your printer is turned on and that there is
paper ready.
Once you have completed the instructions the invoice should print
and if the customer is listed and identified the totals will be
placed in his file where applicable. The items will be deducted from
inventory and if this sale brings the quantity below minimums they
will show when you print your below minimum list. The totals will be
automatically added to the day's, months and year to date totals.

REPORTS
By pressing the R=report key you will notice another new window in
the middle of the screen. This is the reports menu and will allow
you to print reports on your business as listed. Please feel free to
try some of the reports. Just make sure you have your printer online
with paper installed.
SUMMARY
The above is just a short introduction to Business Partner. This
DEMO disk allows you to experience the program in a limited way.
There is a lot you cannot do and the number of customers, creditors
and inventory items is limited to 5 listings each.
