QDISK.DOC - 11/04/87
This program is a memory resident directory utility. The
initial idea came from PC MAGAZINES DR.COM utility in the August
87 issue. I have greatly enhanced their utility and added many
new features. The following is a list of the current features in
Qdisk.
1) Copy a file (Multi operator)
2) Delete a file (Multi operator)
3) Rename a file
4) Move a file (Multi operator)
5) Show a new Path or disk
6) View a file or directory
7) Search for text in a file being viewed
8) Repeat search for previous text
9) Create a Directory
10) Remove a Directory
11) Mark a file for multiple operators
12) UnMark a file for multiple operators
13) Mark All files for multiple operators
14) Toggle Wordstar file mode for view option
15) Toggle Confirm option on delete and print functions
16) Toggle Word Wrap mode for view option
17) Toggle text Formatting in view option
18) Change a file's attributes (Multi operator)
19) Print a file (Multi operator)
20) Sort directory display by Name, Ext, Size or Date
21) Change the printer device (lpt1-lpt3 are valid)
22) Directory notes
23) Speed search for a file name
24) Exit QDISK and stay in the directory being displayed
When a file is marked for multiple operations an asterisk
(*) will appear just past the file name on the display. Any time
any files are marked, all multi operator commands will act on all
marked files. The total number of marked files, and the size of
the marked files is displayed under the date and time.
NOTE: If you have any files marked, and you hit <ESC> to exit the
program, you will still have those files marked when you start
the module again.
To see the alternate key menu, hold down the <ALT> key on
the keyboard. Then press the option you want.
<ESC> will exit you back to what ever you were running when
you are on the main screen.
To change the pop-up key from alt-tab, place the new
character on the command line after the program name. The
following are the valid characters not including the quotes:
"ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ,./\" <TAB> and <SPACE>

1) Copy a file (Multi operator)
To copy a file, or a list of market files, press the
<F1> key on the main menu. You will then be asked to enter
the destination for the file(s). This may be any valid DOS
disk or directory. If there is not enough room on the
destination disk, you are asked if you wish to change the
destination diskette or skip the copy of that file. Once you
have answered this question the system will continue with
the copying.
2) Delete a file (Multi operator)
To delete a file, or list of marked files, press the
<F2> key or <CTRL-D> on the main menu. If confirm, on the
Alt menu, is ON, you will be prompted for a 'Y' or an 'N' as
to whether or not you really want to delete the file(s). If
you say 'Y', the file is deleted and you may then continue.
If you say 'N', the prompt is cleared and you may continue.
If confirm is OFF, the file(s) is/are deleted when you hit
the key and no prompt is shown.

directory on a disk, or to a new disk drive, press <F4> or

5) Show a new Path or disk
To look at a new path or disk, press <F5> or <CTRL-P>
on the main menu. You will then be asked for the new
directory to display. Any valid DOS drive or directory is

back to your original program and be out of QDISK. You may
