  5. This is the ReadMe file for READY - Newsletters & Booklets. This file 
  6. can be printed by selecting Print from the File menu.

  8. This file provides tips and describes known problems and suggests 
  9. possible solutions. If you experience a problem with READY - 
  10. Newsletters & Booklets, you should read this file. When you are 
  11. finished reading this file, select Exit from the File menu.

  25. Windows(R) 95/98 required 
  26. CPU: 486DX 66MHz or faster. Pentium or faster for Windows 98
  27. RAM: 8MB (16MB recommended, required for Windows 98)
  28. Hard Drive: approximately 25 MB hard disk space 
  29. CD-ROM: 2X CD-ROM drive or faster
  30. Video: 640x480 display, 256 colours
  31. Sound Card:  Windows compatible sound device
  32. Printer: Works with most popular printers supported by Windows
  33. Modem: Optional
  34. System Configuration: May require minor adjustments to the 
  35. configuration of your operating system and/or updates to the 
  36. hardware component drivers.

  39. II.     INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  40.  
  41. Installing READY - Newsletters & Booklets is easy. The installation 
  42. procedure below lets you install the product in a few simple steps.
  43.  
  44. TYPICAL INSTALLATION
  45.  
  46. The Typical Installation is recommended for optimum performances. 
  47. It installs 25 MB to the hard drive. This installation option installs 
  48. the READY application, the graphics and all the QuickStart Layouts.
  49.  
  50. 1. With the Windows 95/98 Desktop displayed, insert the READY -
  51. Newsletters & Booklets CD into your CD-ROM drive. If the Start Up 
  52. screen does not automatically appear, double-click the READY - 
  53. Newsletters & Booklets CD-ROM icon in the folder. Double-click the 
  54. Setup.exe file.

  56. 2. Click the Install button to begin installation. Carefully follow 
  57. the on-screen instructions to install the program.

  59. 3. Once you reach the Installation Configuration screen, select 
  60. Typical and click the Next button.

  62. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions for installing READY - Newsletters
  63. & Booklets.
  64.  
  65. 5. READY - Newsletters & Booklets will be installed onto the default 
  66. installation location on your C drive in a directory named 
  67. The Print Shop Products and under a sub-directory named READY -
  68. Newsletters & Booklets. If you would like to change the destination of 
  69. this installation, click the Browse button in the Installation 
  70. Configuration dialog box and navigate to the desired installation 
  71. location.

  73. 6. After the READY - Newsletters & Booklets installation is completed,
  74. you will be given the option of electronically registering your copy 
  75. of READY - Newsletters & Booklets. Please take a few moments to 
  76. register READY - Newsletters & Booklets. Registering your product 
  77. qualifies you for free technical support and notification of future 
  78. upgrades and special discounts.

  80. 7. To use READY - Newsletters & Booklets, click Start on the Windows95/98 
  81. Taskbar, move the cursor to Programs, then READY - Newsletters & 
  82. Booklets. Click on READY - Newsletters & Booklets icon.

  84. PARTIAL INSTALLATION
  85.  
  86. The Partial Installation only copies the minimum number of files 
  87. required to the hard drive. Every time you use READY - Newsletters & 
  88. Booklets, you will need to put the CD in the CD-ROM drive. This 
  89. installation requires 20MB of available hard drive space.

  91. 1. With the Windows 95/98 desktop displayed, insert the READY -
  92. Newsletters & Booklets CD into your CD-ROM drive.

  94. If the Start Up screen does not automatically appear, double-click 
  95. the My Computer icon on the desktop and then double-click the READY -
  96. Newsletters & Booklets CD-ROM icon in the folder. Double-click the 
  97. Setup.exe file.

  99. 2. Click the Install button to begin the installation. Carefully 
  100. follow the on-screen instructions to install the program.

  102. 3. Once you reach the Installation Configuration screen, select 
  103. Partial and click the Next button.

  105. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions for installing READY - Newsletters
  106. & Booklets.

  108. 5. READY - Newsletters & Booklets will be installed onto the default

  127. III. READY - NEWSLETTERS & BOOKLETS CONTENT

  129. READY - Newsletters & Booklets contains over 1,000 clip art images and
  130. 200 photographs.

  132. IV. NEW SUPPORT FOR SCANNERS AND DIGITAL CAMERAS
  133.  
  134. READY - Newsletters & Booklets includes support to allow you to place 
  135. images from your scanner or digital camera directly into your 
  136. READY projects. You'll learn how easy it is to use and how quickly 
  137. you can incorporate digital images into READY documents.
  138.  
  139. This new feature simply allows READY to communicate with your 
  140. digital imaging hardware and allows you to place digital images 
  141. directly into your READY document. Once you have brought an 
  142. image into READY, the images becomes part of the READY document. 
  143.  
  144. To take advantage of this exciting new feature, you will need to have 
  145. a TWAIN compliant scanner or digital camera hooked up to your 
  146. computer. If you have questions about installing or using your 
  147. scanner or digital camera, please contact the hardware manufacturer.

  149. To add an image from your scanner or digital camera to your document:
  150.  
  151. If you have a single TWAIN device installed to your computer
  152.  
  153. 1. With a READY document open on the design desk, choose 
  154. Acquire Image from the Object menu.
  155.  
  156. This accesses your scanner or digital camera and calls up the 
  157. software which your hardware device uses to capture images. Every 
  158. scanner or digital camera has software that is unique.
  159.  
  160. 2. Once the device has been accessed by READY, you simply 
  161. follow the instructions for operating the hardware.
  162.  
  163. The image or photograph you scan will be saved as a part of your 
  164. READY document.
  165.  
  166. If you have multiple TWAIN devices installed to your computer
  167.  
  168. 1. With a READY document open on the design desk, choose 
  169. Select Image Source from the Object menu.
  170.  
  171. This allows you to select the scanner or digital camera you wish to 
  172. use from a list of the devices which you have previously installed 
  173. to your system.
  174.  
  175. 2. After you have selected the device you wish to use, click OK to 
  176. confirm your selection and close the dialog box.
  177.  
  178. 3. Select Acquire Image from the Object menu and follow the 
  179. instructions which are supplied by the scanner or digital camera's 
  180. manufacturer.
