Glass objects can also be decorated and fashioned when they are finished. One can, for instance, paint or cut them. However, engraving and cutting was very rarely done in the Middle Ages. So called ΓÇÿhot workingΓÇÖ was much more common than fashioning glass when cold. Nevertheless, shards of broken glass objects were fashioned into glass beads by sculpting. This means that pieces were removed from the glass fragment by pressing it gently with a fairly blunt object.
