StockholmΓÇÖs oldest glass finds date already from the 13th century, when single German glass objects and also some enamelled glass ended up in the town. Especially the excavations at Helgeandsholmen in the centre of Stockholm have yielded shards of Bohemian and north German glasses dating from the end of the 14th century and the 15th century. On the other hand, the finds include few late medieval glasses. At the end of the 16th and in the 17th century, German Waldglas, West European facon de Venise, as well as genuine Venetian glass vessels were commonly used in Stockholm. The excavation site of Norrmalm has been particularly rich in glass finds, in addition to Gamla Stan.
