As recently as 30 years ago, concave-sided beakers were hardly known. These beakers dating from the end of the 13th century and the 14th century are still rare among finds. They were made at least in central Germany near Mainz, in Spessart, which is GermanyΓÇÖs best-known medieval glass production area. One of BergenΓÇÖs oldest finds is the base of one of these concave beakers made of dark blue glass. The nearest area where similar vessels have been found so far is central Germany, so the beaker from Bergen tells about the townΓÇÖs good connections with Germany in the 13th and 14th century.
