The Krautstrunk, which developed from the prunted beaker of ΓÇÿSchaffhausen typeΓÇÖ, was a popular glass in the 14th and at beginning of the 15th century, used mainly for drinking white wine. The glasses were manufactured particularly in western Germany along the Rhine. Krautstr├╝nke were decorated with large glass prunts which gave the green beakers a shape resembling a cabbage stalk. People noted already then that even a drunkΓÇÖs grip of these glasses holds! Krautstr├╝nke were produced in large quantities and thousands of shards have been recovered in western Germany. There are also finds from different parts of the Nordic Countries, especially from Norway.
