The prunted beakers of so called ΓÇÿSchaffhausen typeΓÇÖ have been named after a Swiss monastery where a number of these glasses, used mainly at the end of the 13th and in the 14th century, were found in 1921. These beakers blown of soda glass were most likely all produced in the area of Switzerland and southern Germany. Typical features of the beakers are bright bluish-green colour, an applied frilled threading encircling the base, decoration with small prunts and a mouth opening outwards. Very few beakers have reached northern Germany or the Mediterranean. However, fragments of a couple of soda glass beakers, dating from the 14th century, have been recovered from Turku and Stockholm.
