Venetian beakers have an inscription ΓÇÿbandΓÇÖ encircling the upper edge of the glass. The inscriptions may have been religious, but in some beakers the painted text states the name of the craftsman who made it. One of the beakers produced by master Aldrevandin has survived intact through the centuries and, at first, enamelled beakers were known by his name. Today we also know of Bartolomeo and Petrus from written sources ΓÇö like Aldrevandin, they are referred to in Venetian documents of their time. One magnificent beaker made by master Petrus was taken to a place near Bonn in Germany and another one ended up as far as Tartu. The latter one bears the inscription MAGISTER PETRUS ME FECIT ΓÇö Master Petrus made me!
