  165.     1. If the connection was not made, a BUSY will be seen within 30
  166.        seconds. The BUSY message means that the number dialed was either
  167.        busy, not in service, or an invalid attempt to dial more than 7
  168.        digits. A BUSY will also be seen after disconnecting from the
  169.        host computer, but you can dial another number by starting again
  170.        at the fifth step and typing ATZ and dialing the number.

  172.     2. PC Pursuit uses standard HAYES dialing commands, which enable
  173.        you to type the A/ (no CR) command to redial the previously
  174.        dialed number.

  176.     3. When a typing mistake is made in the second and third steps,
  177.        the log-on must be re-entered.

  311.        To use PC PURSUIT, all you need are --
  312.  
  313.        - a telephone line
  314.        - a modem - 300 or 1200 bps
  315.        - a terminal or a PC with asynchronous communications software
  316.  
  317.        PARAMETERS:
  318.        -----------
  319.        Communication parameters for your hardware should be set-up
  320.        consistent with the PC or BBS or host computer you wish to dial.
  321.  
  322.        FILE TRANSFERS:
  323.        ---------------
  324.        Most transfer protocols are compatible with PC PURSUIT.
  325.        Across TELENET'S Public Data Network, PC PURSUIT transmits
  326.        data utilizing 8 bit transparency. Due to XMODEM'S use of
  327.        single block by block acknowledgement of data sent, XMODEM
  328.        file transfers can take slightly longer. There are
  329.        however, more efficent transfer protocols such as KERMIT,
  330.        SUPER KERMIT and YMODEM.

  332.        You will note that you must use parameter settings of 7
  333.        data bits, Even parity, and 1 stop bit to dial into your
  334.        local Telenet access number. Once connected to your dest-
  335.        ination computer or bbs, you can switch to 8 data bits,
  336.        No parity, and 1 stop bit if needed to do file transfers
  337.        with XMODEM or other 8-bit protocols. Some communication
  338.        software packages will automatically change your parameters
  339.        once the file transfer is initiated.

  349. PC Pursuit subscribers are charter members.  You will receive this

  386. When we announced the enhanced PC Pursuit service in June, 1986, we
  387. suddenly were flooded with many new registrations, which resulted in
  388. much more traffic and sometimes the requested city was "busy".
  389. So, from July 23 to Aug 13, we expanded the PC Pursuit ports in each
  390. city.  It takes us about 3 weeks from the time we identify a busy
  391. location to expand capacity there -- but we are regularly watching
  392. the traffic patterns and volumes in each city to provide you the
  393. best possible service performance.

  468.   blocks of X-modem.  Thus, there is much less need for hand-shaking

  518. Fido is a public domain bulletin board software system developed by
  519. Tom Jennings from San Francisco, California.  Some of the features
  520. of the Fido Bulletin Board System include -

  522.    - Unlimited number of users

  524.    - Multiple message and file areas
  525.    - Consistent Email commands
  526.    - Eight file transfer methods
  527.    - Supports 300, 1200, 2400 baud

  529. The FidoNet is also available for Fido BBS systems to store and forward
  530. messages and files.  This is a non realtime packet switched electronic
  531. mail system with over 250 nodes nationwide and in several countries.

  533. Telenet chose to use the Fido software as the BBS system for its'
  534. PC Pursuit User Guide based on its ease of operation, installation and
  535. maintenance.  Telenet also paid the $100 fee for commercial use of this
  536. software package.
