There is no in-game help. So the F1 is now useless. The F7 key is now used to toggle the intermediate timing display (which indicates the distance separating your car and the one before and after.)
Buying and trading cars (Single Player Championship)
Here's how to buy a new car: first, you have to trade in your first car. Just select the new car you wish to acquire (if its "buy" button is active, it means you will have enough money to buy it after trading in your old car), and then accept the trade-in of your car to complete the transaction.
Saved Cars
A player can save up to 30 cars from the championship mode. To erase a saved car in the arcade mode, press "Shift-Delete" while the car is displayed.
Saved games
The game will now be saved after each race, instead of between each block.
Ghosts
When a ghost is saved in the reverse mode, it will be displayed with a "R" besides it in the "ghost" window. To race against a ghost saved in the reverse mode, you have to race in the reverse mode. The same applies to the normal mode "ghosts".
Car Insurance Option
The car insurance from the Road assistance doesn't repair damages for free, but gives a 50% rebate on repairs after a race.
Using a modem
The head to head modem mode will be available shortly in a SPB add-on. However, it is possible to play Speed Busters using a modem with a remote internet connection, and then playing on the Game Service.
Multiplayer Championship
- NETWORK : The starting credits of the network championship are determined by the master when creating a new session. All new participants joining a session (after the first race) will receive the same starting credits that the other players received at the beginning. When exiting a session, no cars nor any money will be saved to be used in a new session.
- GAME SERVICE : Instead of having starting credits fixed by the master, when a new account is created on the GS for Speed Busters, you will receive a Bel_Ray (basic) and 5000 credits. Since the Bel_Ray is free of charge at the beginning, this car will remain free and accessible for each race. All the profits made and all the cars upgraded on the GS will be automatically saved when a transaction occurs on the GS Server. All your data, credits and scores are kept on the Server, not on your hard disk. So, independently of the session on the GS, you will get all your saved cars and credits to continue racing, even if the game has been uninstalled from your computer between two sessions. If you run out of credits and have a damaged car, you will be able to get another Bel_Ray and start again to bust the radar and gain credits. You can trade cars the same way as in the Single Player Championship. However, on the Game Service, you can own up to 5 cars at the same time. if you wish to acquire another car without selling your first one, you will then have to choose another slot in the Garage, and buy the new car. By doing this, you will have two active cars in your "garage". A maximum of 5 cars can be stored in the Garage.
Tip : Access to the tracks aren't blocked and the radar minimum speed limit is the same as the singleplayer championship, so it is preferable to start racing on California, Mexico and Louisiana (on those tracks the radars are easier to bust).
If you are unable to run the Speed Busters game with this type of card, you may need to remove the Direct3D Speed Busters driver from your Speed Busters directory.
The filename for this file is RENDERD3D6.DLL.
Voodoo 1
It's better to use the 3DFX Render DLL for this card.
Voodoo 2 and Banshee
It's better to use the 3DFX2 Render DLL for these cards.
You should always get the latest driver for your graphics card. Look for them on the World Wide Web. You should always update your drivers, since manufacturer release them almost every 4 months, and they should always improve card performances.
These are some of the most important graphics cards manufacturers:
You may experience some problem with graphics cards using this type of chipset; they have some problems with their Direct3D drivers, so be sure to always have their latest driver version:
You may obtain a lower frame rate with these types of card:
ATI RAGE II and older ATI cards.
PowerVR
Matrox Mystique
S3 Virge
--------------
Savage 3D
You may have to disable the fog in the "Graphic options" dialog. Click on the "Custom >>" button to see the option "Show fog". Maybe the problem with the fog will be corrected in a future version of the Savage 3D driver.
--------------
S3 Virge
Our game doesn't support this type of graphics card. It may run, but at a frame rate so low that you will barely be able to play.

PowerVR
There are some features that this card doesn't support, so you're not going to have the best possible result with it.
If your intro is skipping, check the settings of your CDROM drive.
Under Win95 and Win98, you must set the DMA Check ON. Look in the Control Panel\System\Device Managers\CDROM\Settings. However, for some CD-ROM users, this option is not available. Contact your retailer or manufacturer for more information.
While making speedbusters, designers and engineers agreed on the fact that the feeling of true racing had to be realistic in multiplayer modes, even under the worst network conditions.
There are 2 ways of representing a distant player car in the game: The precise and the simulated representation.
a) Precise representation
Precise representation is activated when the game judges the connection as "good". What you see then is the exact distant car actions.
b) Simulated Representation
Simulated representation is activated when the game judges that the connection is "bad". What you will then see, to avoid seeing "teleporting and flickering cars", is a simulated view of the distant player's car, based on information received by your computer about the other player's position.
During a race, the game decides wether it will activate both modes. It can give false information on the race ranking at some moments, but the racing feeling remains realistic.
[Multiplayer IPX/SPX]
This mode supports up to 6 players through the ipx/spx network protocol.
First, the host has to create a session. Then, the session will be seen by other
players in the sessions listbox (in the main page after clicking on "network").
Other players can join this session by clicking on the session and selecting "join".
In order to use this mode, the IPX/SPX protocol has to be installed and
properly configured (refer to the windows documentation for further assistance).
If you are using Windows NT 4.0 make sure you have installed the latest ipx/spx
drivers (available from Microsoft).
[Multiplayer TCP/IP]
This mode supports two players through the TCP/IP network protocol. First the host
has to create a session, then the other player can join this session by typing
the IP address of the host into the appropriate edit box.
For users who have both a remote access connection and a network card setup to
support TCP/IP, in order to use the remote acess connection in SpeedBusters,
you have to disable TCP/IP on your network card.
- In windows 95/98 -
Go into the control pannel and open "network".
Double click on your network adapter to bring up properties. Click on the "bindings" tab.
Then deselect the line with TCP/IP. Make sure you note your TCP configuration to
reset after playing.
TO REENABLE TCP/IP FOR YOUR NETWORK CARD:
Go back to "network" settings, choose "add..." and then "protocol" and select TCP/IP.
Setup your TCP/IP as it was before and reboot.
- In Windows NT -
Go into the control pannel and open "network".
Click on the "bindings" tab.
In "Show Bindings for", choose "all adapters".
Select your network adapter and open it (use the + on the left)
Select TCP/IP Protocol and then click on "disable".
TO REENABLE TCP/IP FOR YOUR NETWORK CARD:
Follow the same steps, use the "Enable" button instead of the "disable" button and reboot.
[Multiplayer LINK]
With this mode, two players can play through a serial cable connecting two computers.
Make sure you are using a null-modem cable and that your COM port is properly configured.
The COM port properties should be:
Bits Per Seconds: 57600
Data Bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow Control: None
First, one of the players chooses to be the host and creates a session.
Then, the other player joins that session by selecting "join game".
NOTE: In every multiplayer game, once the master has clicked on ready (thus starting the race), the session
is closed and no other players can join the session.
