  3. GeoClock 8.0 (windows only) adds:
  4. 1) Display view-from-space maps by shift-left-click on a point.
  5. 2) Display world map centered at a point by shift-right-click.
  6. 3) Integrate GeoGlobe (including screen saver) into GeoClock 
  7. provided optional GeoGlobe program has been purchased.

  9. GeoClock 8.0 (DOS and Windows) adds:
  10. 1) New registration file (GEOCLOCK.KEY) which will solve problems
  11. caused by some virus checkers.  REGISTER.EXE will continue to work
  12.  
  13. GeoCLock 8.0 (DOS only) fixes:
  14. 1) Bug caused by error in turbo pascal run-time-library that can
  15. cause errors on very fast machines (Pentium Pro 200+, Pentium II 233+)

  18. GeoClock 7.5 (windows only) adds:
  19. 1)  An interactive annotation and customization feature.  Click
  20. Customize/Customize MAPn to activate this feature.
  21. 2)  A USRn.DAT file to hold customization information that will
  22. be permanent, even if you update the GeoClock data files.
  23.  
  24. GeoClock 7.4 (both DOS and windows) adds:
  25. 1)  Display of moon rise and moon set.  The times will be displayed
  26. whenever the MOON7 or MOON3 commands are active.  A new command,
  27. MOONRSn  , has been added.  If n=0, moon rise/set data will not be
  28. displayed.  If n > 0, n determines the number of iterations used
  29. to calculate moon rise/set data.  n=1 is usually not satisfactory,
  30. and n=2 (the default value) seems to be OK.
  31. 2)  A new zipcode interpolation system was added to give better
  32. results with zipcodes which have been added after the current 
  33. ZIPCODE.BIN file.  This affects the HAM radio package when using
  34. a CD-ROM, and also the setup program/menu.
  35. 3)  Corrected handling of GEOZONES updates.
  36. 4)  Corrected handling of VECTOR command.

  38. GeoCLock 7.4 (windows only) adds:
  39. 1)  Automatic selection of otherwise identical SVGA/VGA maps, based
  40. on current window size.  A new command, 
  41. MAPGROUPn/x/y   was added to support this.  n=0 indicates that the
  42. old method of map selection is to be used.  n=1 indicates that the
  43. new method is to be used, but only when zooming.  n=2 indicates that
  44. the new method is always to be used.
  45. If both VGA and SVGA maps exist, then if the windows Xsize is greater
  46. or equal to x, *and* the window Ysize if greater or equal to y, then
  47. the SVGA map is used, otherwise the VGA map is used.  
  48. A new menu item, Controls/Resolution, has been added to support this
  49. function.
  50. 2)  The size limit on USCITY.BIN and WRLDCITY.BIN was increased to 64K.
  51. 3)  Since some systems to not have WINMEM32.DLL, GeoClock will use its
  52. own version of this DLL if WINMEM32.DLL is not found.
  53. 4)  Several changes were made to the screen saver.  A "leak" in the
  54. password system was closed.  The help system is not loaded when the
  55. screen saver is started, but only when/if a dialog box is generated.
  56. A new command, NOSSHELP, was added to prevent the help system from
  57. loading at all when the screen saver is active.
  58. 5)  A rare problem with lat/long lines and rapid mouse clicks was solved.

  65. GeoClock 7.3 (both DOS and windows) adds a revised MAPCENTER command to 
  66. allow maps to be centered on the current sun position.

  68. GeoClock for Windows 7.3 adds a separate clocks windows that can show
  69. the current local time for user selected cities anywhere in the world,
  70. and a wide variety of other improvements.

  72. GeoClock for DOS 7.3 corrects a timing error in scripts.

  74. GeoClock for Windows 7.2 adds two major new features: a true
  75. Windows screensaver mode, and a wallpaper mode.

  77. 1.  Windows Screensaver.  The screensaver is initialized for the 
  78. first time from the FILES/Screen Saver Setup menu item.  After that, 
  79. it can be controlled from the main Windows Control Panel/Desktop 
  80. (win3.x and WinNT) or the MyComputer/Display (Win95).

  82. 2.  Windows Wallpaper.  The wallpaper mode is activated by checking 
  83. the "In Background" box in the Controls/Window Controls menu item, or 
  84. by including INBACK1 on the command line.  See the online help for
  85. more information.

  87. 3.  Summer time extrapolation algorithm.  This change improves the accuracy
  88. of the extrapolation of summer time dates.  A change was made in the DST 
  89. command syntax to support this change.  Of cource, since lawyers are involved
  90. in determining these dates...

  93. Version 7.1 (both DOS and Windows) add two major new features:
  94. the HAM package now recognizes the QRZ CD-ROM in addition to the 
  95. BuckMaster CD-ROM; the NETWORK command was added to allow multiple 
  96. configurations.  In addition, some bug fixes and enhansements were 
  97. made to the windows version.

  99. 1.  QRZ disk.  There are no syntax changes.  If you have the HAMCD
  100. command, the program will recognize the QRZ or BuckMaster disk,
  101. depending on which it finds first if you have both mounted.  If you
  102. specifiy the file name, you must specify the location of the
  103. CALLBKC.DAT file for the QRZ CD.
  104. *** Starting with the Octobert 1995 release, GeoClock no longer
  105.     works with the BuckMaster CD.  BuckMaster has deleted the
  106.     HAMCALL.129 file that GeoClock uses.  The replacement file is
  107.     encrypted, and BuckMaster will not release the file format and
  108.     encryption algorithm.  You can obtain the QRZ CD at retail or

  119. 2.  NetWork
  120. NETWORK  allows you to run GeoClock on a network, with each user able
  121.  to customize his use of the program.  The syntax is:
  122. NETWORK@serverpath@localpath
  123.   - or -
  124. NETWORK
  125.  In the second case, the path to the GeoClock EXE file is used as the
  126.  serverpath, while the current default directory is used as the local
  127.  path.
  128. Example:  NETWORK@C:\GEOCLOCK@F:\MYGEO@

  130. In general, when GeoClock requires a file, it first looks for the file
  131. in the localpath directory.  If the file is not found there, it looks
  132. in the serverpath directory.  When files are written (such as when the
  133. options statement is used), the changed file is written to the
  134. localpath directory.  This changed file will them be the one read the
  135. next time that file is required.

  137. Only MAP*.EGA files in the serverpath directory will be used.  All other
  138. files may be in either directory.

  140. 3.  The windows version has a number of enhansements and bug fixes:
  141. The apparent speed has been increased (apparent is all that matters
  142.   in windows, I guess!).  In particular, the delay from a mouse click
  143.   to the menu appearance is greatly reduced.
  144. A new feature was added to the SETUP menu, to allow grey scale and
  145.   color depth to be specified.  In addition, 16 color systems are
  146.   automatically detected, and the color palette is modified to
  147.   make display on this system better.
  148. A test-map feature was added to the file menu to facility detection
  149.   of bad maps.
  150. Bugs in DRAWFCIRCLE and script were fixed.
  151. The NOGLYPH command was added to solve an Out-Of-Resources on some
  152.   older systems running in 64K and 16M color mode.
  153. The MAKEZOOM program was modified to support the Windows version.
