  2. This file is README.1ST.  It contains information about
  3. WaveSong and how to install it.  Please read this file
  4. first!

  6. WaveSong is not free.
  7. If you obtained this program on a try-before-buy basis,
  8. be aware that if you continue to use this program, you
  9. MUST register within thirty days of use.
  10.  
  11. WaveSong is a nature-sound generator program for
  12. Windows, using the digital sound output capabilities of
  13. your sound card.  Sounds produced include: thunder,
  14. crickets, waves, rain, and wind.  This application
  15. is useful for generating soothing background sounds
  16. to mask out unwanted noise and to promote relaxation.

  19. I.  Distribution Files
  20. ------------------------

  22. You may have received WaveSong in one of two forms:
  23.  
  24. A) You have the program in the form of .ZIP file,
  25.        WAVSNG14.ZIP 
  26.    from a bulletin board, Internet, CDROM, etc.  You 
  27.    should know how to unzip the file with PKUNZIP.EXE.
  28.  
  29. B) You have a floppy disk with several files, most in
  30.    compressed format.
  31.  
  32. If you have (A), please make sure the ZIP files are unzipped
  33. in a single directory before installation.

  35. II.  Installing WaveSong
  36. ---------------------------

  38. The WaveSong file set includes a program named SETUP.EXE
  39. used for installation.
  40.  
  41. If your distibution files are on a floppy disk in drive A:
  42.  
  43.     1) Go to Windows Program Manager.
  44.  
  45.     2) Click on the "Run..." item in "File" menu.
  46.  
  47.     3) In the command box type
  48.  
  49.         A:\SETUP
  50.  
  51.         (If your floppy drive is different than A:,
  52.          substitute the appropriate name.)
  53.  
  54.     4) Click on OK

  57. (If you unzipped the zipped file into a temporary directory, for
  58.  instance, C:\TMP, then do the same but with the command
  59.  C:\TMP\SETUP )
  60.  
  61. The setup program will ask you where you want WaveSong installed.
  62. You may install it anywhere, but we suggest using a separate new
  63. directory to keep WaveSong files separate from other programs.

  66. III. Getting started
  67. ----------------------

  69. After installation, go ahead and click the Play button.  Listen
  70. for sound output and adjust the Volume slider control.
  71.  
  72. If you don't hear any sounds, try these steps:
  73.  
  74. Use another Windows application, such as Media Player which comes with
  75. Windows 3.1, to play a .WAV file.  If you don't hear any sounds, 
  76. chances are your sound card is not set up correctly.  Refer to your 
  77. sound card documentation.
