  57. WHAT IS THE BEATLES SONG INDEX?
  58.  
  59. The Beatles Song Index provides information about the songs of the
  60. Beatles. All songs the Beatles have recorded and published officially
  61. were evaluated for the Beatles Song Index. The index was compiled as a
  62. Windows help file and uses all features of the Windows help system
  63. including hypertext function, keyword search, bookmarks and personal
  64. annotations.
  65.  
  66. The following information is available as a rule for every song: song
  67. composer, main vocalist, recording dates and places, producers and sound
  68. engineers, running time, guest musicians, release date, highest UK chart
  69. position for single and EP releases, recorded takes and a selection of
  70. recorded cover versions by other artists.

  72. The main points of the index are the songs. For example it does not
  73. contain a complete discography of the Beatles releases. Taken into
  74. account for the index are all the songs that were officially published in
  75. the United Kingdom. Beyond this additional songs were taken into account
  76. which were recorded during the "Get Back sessions" and were exclusively
  77. published in the Let It Be film. You can also find songs which the
  78. Beatles have written and given away to other artists but have never
  79. recorded for themselves. Also included in the index are the "speech"
  80. tracks avaiable on the " Live At The BBC "-album and the "Anthology"
  81. albums. Some statistical evaluations of the song material round off the
  82. functionality of the index.

  84. The Beatles Song Index can answer the following questions for example:
  85. Which songs were recorded on July 30th, 1963? Which songs have a
  86. duration of 2'32? Which songs were recorded in London's Olympic Sound
  87. Studios? Which Buddy Holly songs did the Beatles record? What was the
  88. working title of "I Saw here Standing There"? Which was the highest chart
  89. position of the All My Loving EP? On which songs did George Harrison sing
  90. the lead voice? Is there a live version of "Help!" and on which album is
  91. it available? Sidney Sax plays violin on several Beatles songs. On which
  92. ones?

  118. ===== Installation =====================================

  120. HOW TO INSTALL THE B.S.I.?
  121.  
  122. To install the Beatles Song Index run Windows 3.1 or Win-OS/2 and run
  123. the file "install.exe". The installation program asks you for the
  124. directory to install. Accept the proposed disk and directory or type
  125. a new target directory. Klick on "OK" to start the installation. A
  126. program group and a program symbol will automatically created. To run
  127. the B.S.I. click on the corresponding icon in the new program group.
  128. The B.S.I. is a data file in the Windows help file format (hlp). It
  129. runs by using the program winhelp.exe which is part of the operating
  130. system Windows 3.1 or Win-OS/2.

  132. Notes:
  133. The installation does NOT change any system files and does NOT copy
  134. any other files to your system then the ones which you find in the
  135. target directory. To uninstall the B.S.I. simply delete the files in
  136. the target directory and delete the program symbol and the group in
  137. the program manager.
