Sagrada Familia is a Jugendstil church, designed by the architect Antonio Gaudi. Gaudi died before the building was finished, and it still has not been finished.
According to tradition, Barcelona was founded by the Carthaginians around the year 230 B.C. The city has then been inhabited by Romans, Arabs and Franks.
Although the Barrio G├│tico, the old city centre of Barcelona, is filled with narrow, winding lanes, most of its buildings are modern.
