It is impossible to say exactly how many languages are currently spoken throughout the world. Most experts believe that there are four or five thousand living languages, but if you include dialects as well there are over twenty thousand! French is spoken mainly in France, Francophone Africa countries, parts of Switzerland and Canada, and half of Belgium.
