version 5.11 5th Sep 1996
======================================================================
- You can now register Amazeing via Alberts Ambry on
the web. Check out REGISTER.TXT for info.
- For cheats, hints, patches, and add-on packs on the
World Wide Web, go to the Amazeing page at:
http://www.ecel.uwa.edu.au/~sswain/amazeing
- Minor graphics engine bug fix
version 5.00 29th Jul 1995 Mega Mucus Version
======================================================================
- ARGH!!! It's MUCUS, and it's coming to get YOU!!! Now
you can be stalked through the maze by a big green
gooey glowing glob of mucus!
- Three intelligence levels
- Radar for locating mucus
- GREAT NEW ARTWORK BY JENNIFER REITZ. Check it out!
- High scores table! Now AMAZEING keeps record of up to
20 scores for each maze size.
- Quick start games - 5 different game types to get you
playing straight away without having to worry about
what all the options are for. (Also 1 custom type.)
- Options menu condensed into an easy to use dialog box.
- Music! 4 MIDI files for using as the game start sound.
- Two new viewpoint settings - withdrawn view moves the
viewpoint back into the square a little, to display
some of the square you are currently standing on, and
back of square view shows you standing in the maze.
- Extended corridors!! Now the view is even more realistic
with this great enhancement to Amazeing's graphics
engine.
- Realistic colouring option for walls that really ARE
different colours, rather than just coloured
according to the direction you are facing.
- Better lines option for removing the unnecessary lines
in drawing - makes for a more realistic display.
- Compass is now a real compass with a moving needle.
- Faster, smoother, more optimized drawing for smooth
shading in pure colours mode. (It is now virtually
instantaneous on a Pentium 90 with accelerated
video card - even with quick draw turned off!)
- "Instant Draw" option. Draws in memory then copies the
picture to the screen, resulting in no drawing being
seen. Experiment with it to see which is better for you.
(This option does also make drawing marginally faster.)
- Now the down arrow is used for moving backwards one
square, and the keypad 5 is used for turning around.
Also DOOM style sideways movement - use Alt plus
left/right arrow key.
- User defined colours setup now made independent of
regular colour setup, so changing the normal colours
won't affect the ones in pure colours mode.
- Four new cursors for turning left/right and around, to
stop confusion with movement mouse cursor arrows.
- Can now start facing south or east, before it was always
south. Possibility of starting in a 1x1x1 room in a
multi level maze removed - less confusing.
- 256 colour logo bitmap now shown if possible.
- Transportation probability extended so now you can set
anywhere from 0 to 100% probability of transportation.
- New sound events & effects (no, the Killed by Mucus sound
is NOT the sound of me eating!)
- New messages in AMAZEING.MSG
- Windows 3.1 3D dialogs.
- Improved maze creation. Two bugs fixed, faster.
(Shouldn't crash now.)
- Bug fix with mouse cursor arrows. They now change as
they are supposed to.
- Bug fix with messages going off screen if wall too
small. AMAZEING now tries to find messages that fit.
- Bug fix with needless redraws occuring at startup and
when a dialog box was closed. (Palette problem).
- Bug fix with 'background flash' when Mud Map turned on.
- Some other bugs fixed, but I'm not sure exactly what
anymore!
version 4.07 27th Jan 1994 Bug fix version
======================================================================
- Bug fix with place/remove marker menu item when using
the mud map.
- Bug fix with Solve menu becoming disabled after
reloading settings whilst playing a game.
- Bug fix with Transportation menu item being grayed on
devices with less than 256 colours, rather than
Pure Colours menu being grayed.
- Bug fix with menu check marks in Game|Algorithm menu
if reloading settings changed the algorithm.
- Bug fix with loading/saving settings.
version 4.02 6th Dec 1993
======================================================================
- MIDI support. You can now play .mid files for each game
event. Also, the start sound can be looped so that
you have constant music. Check out the help section.
- New maze algorithm - choice offered. The recursive
algorithm produces longer, more curvy mazes, but
they are much easier to solve.
- Maze creation can now be aborted with Escape.
- Better menu disabling.
- Mud map window hidden during animation.
- Bug fix with mud map being filled when not shown and
moving with mouse only.
- Bug fix with logo bitmap being redrawn when compass,
coordinates, or exit distance option toggled.
version 3.92 4th Oct 1993
======================================================================
- Can now set different colours for the N/S walls and E/W
Walls. Please read the "Colour menu" section of the
help file for special information.
- Hint feature now made a menu option. This was a hidden
feature in previous versions. Enjoy! :)
- Reloading saved settings is now possible from the
Options menu.
- Use middle colour checkbox extended to being maze item
dependent - you can opt to ignore the middle setting
for NS Walls, EW Walls, Floor & Ceiling and Manholes.
- Right mouse button click added as an alternative for
the shift-click combination to look up/down in multi
level mazes.
- Mud map window can now be closed with Alt-F4 and the
menu updated accordingly.
- Help file corrections.
- Bug fix with mud map window being shown when animating.
- Bug fix with placing/removing markers whilst the mud map
window is displayed.
version 3.84 6th Sep 1993
======================================================================
- Bug fix with screen redraw occuring whilst in user
defined colour setup dialog in version 3.83.
My apologies to anyone who got version 3.83.
- Hey! Why not join the mailing list! :) (See revision
info for version 3.52)
version 3.83 4th Sep 1993
======================================================================
- The "RAINBOW" version!
Can now select colour for the walls/floor etc at the
middle and end of the corridor for pure colours mode.
Now you can get some *really* good looking screens!
(It still looks better with end colour at 0, but now
it's up to you to make that decision!)
- Mouse movement changed to move on left button release
to conform to standards and to allow change of mind
after the button has been pressed down.
- Section in WIN.INI was getting big (especially with the
new colour fields!), so options are now saved to
AMAZEING.INI in separate sections.
- AMAZEING LOGO PICTURE DRAWN BY JI MIN
- Windows 3.1 file dialog for selecting message file.
- Palette now resets properly when window gets focus.
- Palette usage changed slightly so it is okay on ET4000
TURBO drivers.
- Bug fix with extra pixel height on far wall of corners
that was very noticeable in "quick draw" mode.
This inaccuracy is now only noticeable when the
window height is very small.
- Bug fix with exiting or loading a new message file if
one with more than 4000 lines already loaded.
- Bug fix with screen being drawn twice where the
initialization message dialog box was at game
startup.
- REMINDER: be bold, be brave, send me a postcard!
version 3.52 2nd Aug 1993
======================================================================
- Customizable wall messages - up to 4000! Can also
have messages with multiple lines.
- Low quality "quick draw" mode for smooth shading.
Approximates everything to rectangles.
- Can now play game with keys in the mud map window.
15 lines of code - didn't take much did it?
So why didn't I do it in 3.21???
- Two more sound events - application launch and close.
- Bug fix with position of mud map window when window
is maximized.
- Bug fix with "Place Marker" menu selection when a
game has been successfully finished.
- New mailing list set up! If you wish to have each new
version of AMAZEING sent to you, just send email
to listserv@oliver.sun.ac.za with the following
line as the message:
subscribe amazeing-list Your Full Name
- AMAZEING is now POSTWARE. If you like the game, please
send a postcard with a picturesque scene from your
