  5.    To begin the Hubie install program, type:

  8.    The Hubie install program copies all necessary
  9. files to your computer.  You can install Hubie to any
  10. directory you choose by backspacing over the default
  11. installation directory :

  19.    After installation, the Config program is run to
  20. set up your sound, music and video preferences.

  24.   Hubie is a DOS program.  It has, however, been
  25. designed to be a 'well-behaved' program which
  26. can run under other Operating Environments, like
  27. Windows, or Operating Systems, like OS/2 or Win95.

  29.   Our policy is to put a fair effort into making
  30. our games 'well-behaved' to help our users, and we
  31. encourage our users to remember :

  39.   Hubie was developed under OS/2 2.1 & OS/2 Warp,
  40. so it has always been a priority to keep it stable
  41. under OS/2.  Hubie will run in a window in the PM
  42. Workplace Shell, or as a full-screen application.
  43. Note, however, that in a window, or while switching
  44. between a window and full-screen, the sound may become
  45. scratchy or garbled, due to OS/2 not servicing the
  46. Sound Blaster interrupts in a timely fashion.  The
  47. only workarounds are to keep Hubie in a full-screen
  48. session, or to disable sound effects.

  50.   To create an icon for Hubie, drag the 'Program' icon
  51. from the Templates program into the folder you want
  52. Hubie to reside in (or onto the WorkPlace Shell).  From
  53. the properties notebook, choose Session, click DOS Full
  54. Screen, and type in '*' for the command line.  For the
  55. parameters, type in :

  60. where C:\HUBIE is the directory where Hubie is
  61. installed.  Now, choose DOS Settings.  Most can be
  62. left at their default value, but you should change
  63. the following:

  67. ^012    SESSION_PRIORITY > 32
  68.  
  69. ^012    XGA_REGS_IO_TRAP > Disabled
  70.

  73. Next, close the settings notebook, and
  74. Hubie is ready to use from OS/2.

  78. ^009@Windows 3.1-3.11:
  79.  
  80.   Hubie should run under Windows 3.1-3.11, however,
  81. the sound & music will probably NOT work.
  82. Some users have been able to run Hubie from Windows
  83. 3.1-3.11 by using the latest Sound Blaster
  84. Drivers.  Note that if you have a 'clone' sound card
  85. which requires you to run a DOS based setup program
  86. or TSR in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, it will almost
  87. definitely NOT work.  Windows does not like to share
  88. the sound card between itself and DOS programs, so
  89. if you attempt to run Hubie with sound under
  90. Windows 3.1-3.11, you may receive a message from
  91. Windows regarding this.

  95. ^009@Windows 95:
  96.  
  97.   Hubie SHOULD work under Windows 95.  Windows 95 does
  98. a much better job than Windows 3.1 with DOS compatibility,
  99. so users should have little trouble running Hubie.  Note
  100. that the same issue applies with sound cards: If your
  101. sound card requires a special TSR or program to reset it
  102. before use, make sure that your DOS prompt is set up to
  103. run it in the AUTOEXEC.BAT.

  105.   Hubie will run in a window, but the visible frame rate
  106. will be about half of what it should be.  This is due to
  107. Windows 95 slowly polling the VGA display memory.  To
  108. get the proper frame rate with Hubie, we recommend
  109. running Hubie in a full screen.
  110.  
  111.   Norton Utilities for Windows 95 may cause Hubie to
  112. freeze or hang.  The conflict appears to be related
  113. to the Norton Utilities Protected Recycle Bin.
  114. Serendipity recommends disabling the Protected
  115. Recycling Bin or, booting to DOS before play.
