  7. Welcome to TurboGo for Windows 95 version 3.0, the first version for
  8. Windows 95! Please read the text below before using TurboGo.

  10. 1. This is a shareware version of TurboGo for Windows 95. Some features
  11.    of TurboGo are not available in this shareware version:
  12.      * TurboGo knows 5 different playing levels. Only the lowest 3 are
  13.        available in the shareware version.
  14.      * The shareware-version does not save your preferences. Naturally,
  15.        the registered version will. All the windows positions and all
  16.        your preferences (like the board color) will be stored in an INI
  17.        file. Every time you start TurboGo, you will find it the way you
  18.        left it.
  19.      * In the shareware-version you will be periodically reminded that
  20.        you haven't registered yet. You will not see these reminder
  21.        screens in the registered version.

  23. 2. TurboGo for Windows 95 is shareware. This means that you must
  24.    register TurboGo if you decide to keep using it. I have decided not
  25.    to release TurboGo as a "30 day trial version" because I think that
  26.    people have to be able to test TurboGo as long as they think they
  27.    need. But don't forget: you must register if you decide you want to
  28.    keep using TurboGo.

  30. 3. Registering TurboGo will cost you US$30 (30 american dollars) or
  31.    DFL 50,-- (50 Dutch guilders). People who have registered TurboGo
  32.    for DOS in the past can register for half that amount (don't forget
  33.    to tell me your DOS registration number!).
  34.    In return you will receive your personal registration code, that
  35.    will enable you to turn your shareware version into a fully functional
  36.    registered version. This code will remain valid for future versions of
  37.    TurboGo for Windows 95, you will only have to register once. For more
  38.    information about registering TurboGo, please read the helpfile.

  40. 4. The most important change in this version was porting TurboGo from
  41.    the operating system MS-DOS to Windows 95. Although I think it has
  42.    gone pretty good, I'm not satisfied yet. I would like to make a lot
  43.    of improvements in future versions:
  44.     - A much better move generating algorithm. The Windows 95 platform,
  45.       combined with the fast modern computers, give me a lot of extra
  46.       possibilities. The next version of TurboGo should play stronger.
  47.     - If everything goes well, I will also release a German language
  48.       version of TurboGo.
  49.     - Printing games.
  50.     - TurboGo can only load and save games in its own .GAM file format.
  51.       A next version should also support the standard .SGF and .GO file
  52.       formats.
  53.    It is very hard for me to estimate (let alone promise) when these
  54.    features will be implemented. The only thing I can say is that I will
  55.    do my best to implement as many features as fast as possible.

  57. 5. I can only encourage distribution of the shareware version of TurboGo
  58.    for Windows 95, as long as you follow these simple rules:
  59.     - DO NOT DISTRIBUTE A SERIAL NUMBER WITH TURBOGO. A serial number is
  60.       a number that will turn TurboGo into a registered version and has been
  61.       issued to one specific registered user. This serial number is stored
  62.       in the TURBOGO.INI file. The shareware-version does not use the
  63.       TURBOGO.INI file, so you should never distribute this file together
  64.       with TurboGo. Naturally, you are not allowed to distribute the serial
  65.       number in any other way as well!
  66.     - You must make absolutely clear that you are distributing the SHARE-
  67.       WARE version of TurboGo, and that the user is required to pay a
  68.       registration fee to me if he or she keeps using the program.
  69.     - It is very important to me that users get the latest version of
  70.       TurboGo. Please check regularly on my homepage whether a more
  71.       recent version is available. Or you can send me an e-mail, and I
  72.       will keep you updated whenever I release a new version.
  73.     - You must make sure that you distribute ALL files UNMODIFIED. You
  74.       should always distribute these files together:
  75.         * TURBOGO.EXE   * TURBOGO.HLP   * README.TXT   * LEESMIJ.TXT
  76.         * TURBOGO.DAT   * REGISTER.EXE  * REGISTER.HLP * FILE_ID.DIZ
  77.       You are not allowed to change anything in these files. If you
  78.       want to add another text file yourself, no problem.
  79.       PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DISTRIBUTE THE TURBOGO.INI
  80.       FILE, SINCE ONLY THE REGISTERED VERSION USES THIS FILE!
  81.     - Naturally, you can charge a nominal fee for the distribution of
  82.       TurboGo. I consider a fee of US$5 (5 American Dollars) the
  83.       maximum for a diskette with TurboGo, and US$2.5 (2.5 American
  84.       Dollars) per program for a CD-ROM. I consider any amount above
  85.       that unreasonable. If you want to distribute TurboGo for any
  86.       higher amount, you do NOT have my permission.
  87.    If you want to distribute TurboGo, but for some reason can not comply
  88.    with these rules, please contact me and we'll see if we can work
  89.    something out.

  92.    please don't hesitate to contact me, whether you have already
  93.    registered TurboGo or not. I really like to hear from people what
  94.    they think of my program, and what they think could be improved.
