  8. This README.txt documents the installation and licensing
  9. of the Open Inventor Runtime system.
  10.  
  11. The Open Inventor Runtime system is required to use the
  12. ls2iv (Lightscape Solution File to Inventor File translator)
  13. provided with the Lightscape Visualization System.
  14.  
  15. This runtime component is the proprietary property of Template 
  16. Graphics Software (TGS) and requires a runtime license in order 
  17. to execute.  Please contact Lightscape Technologies to purchase
  18. your licensing key.

  31. --------------- Installation Notes ---------------
  32.  
  33. The following will add Inventor runtime files to the Lightscape
  34. bin directory, making it possible to run the ls2iv program.
  35.  
  36. 1.    Lightscape must be installed first.  If you have not yet
  37.     installed Lightscape, please do so as documented in
  38.     the printed or online installation instructions.  The online
  39.     installation instructions are in README.txt, located in the
  40.     root directory of the CD. The Lightscape software itself
  41.     resides in the I386 directory of the CD.

  43. 2.    Determine the directory where you have installed Lightscape
  44.     (the default is c:\Program Files\Lightscape).
  45.  
  46.     NT 3.51:    
  47.     If you do not know where Lightscape is installed, go to the
  48.     Program Manager and select the Lightscape icon in the
  49.     Lightscape Applications program group.  Then select Properties
  50.     under the File Menu.  The Working Directory field will give you
  51.     the path to the Lightscape bin directory.
  52.  
  53.     In Win95 and NT 4.0:
  54.     Choose Find>Files or Folders from the Start menu.  In the
  55.     Name & Location Tab, type "lscape.exe" in the Named field.
  56.     In the Look in field, choose the disk to which you installed
  57.     Lighscape.  Be sure that the "Include subfolders" option is
  58.     chosen.  Click "Find Now".  Usually only one lscape.exe will
  59.     show up in the results list.  The In Folder column lists where
  60.     it is located.  If more than one copy of lscape.exe shows up,
  61.     click the right mouse button on the application and choose 
  62.     Properties from the context menu.  On the Version Tab of the 
  63.     Properties dialog, look for File Version 3.1. Use the path to
  64.     this file to install your Inventor files.

  66. 3.    Copy all of the files in the Inventor directory except this 
  67.     README) into the Lightscape 'bin' directory on your hard disk.
  68.  
  69.     Assuming you installed into the default location, you will be
  70.     copying into the following directory:
  71.         c:\Program Files\Lightscape\bin
  72.  
  73. 4.    License the Open Inventor Runtime system as described below.
  74.  
  75. ----------------- Licensing Notes ----------------
  76.  
  77. Lightscape Technologies will provide the licensing key for this
  78. component to customers who have purchased it.  Do not contact
  79. TGS for a license key.
  80.  
  81. 1.    After you have installed the files, run the 'ladmin.exe' program 
  82.     in the Lightscape bin directory.
  83.     
  84.     NT 3.51:
  85.     This can be accomplished either by using the Program Manager
  86.     "Run" command under the File menu or by using the File Manager.
  87.  
  88.     Win 95 or NT 4.0:
  89.     Choose Start>Run or use Windows Explorer to find the file and run.
  90.  
  91.     The ladmin program is only used to license the Open Inventor
  92.     Runtime system and has no effect on the Lightscape authorization.
  93.  
  94.     Note that the Help button in ladmin will not work, as there is
  95.     no online help file.

  97. 2.    You will need to copy down the number in the Host ID field.
  98.  
  99. 3.    Contact Lightscape with the Host ID number.  A license key 
  100.     will be sent back to you by Lightscape.  Keep a copy of this
  101.     item in your files, in case anything happens to your machine.
  102.  
  103. 4.    Enter the expiration date and the key that you received
  104.     into the appropriate fields in ladmin.
  105.  
  106. 5.    Press the Apply button.  If no error message appears,
  107.     the licensing was successful and you may now press
  108.     the OK button to exit the program.  The Lightscape solution
  109.     to Inventor file translator (ls2iv.exe) should now function.
  110.  
  111.     If an error message appears, check to see that you 
  112.     entered the key and expiration date correctly.
  113.  
  114. 6.    If, upon running ls2iv, a message box appears indicating
  115.     that the system can not find inv212.dll, you did not copy it
  116.     to the Lightscape bin directory.  You must do so before you 
  117.     can run ls2iv.
