  8. PURPOSE:  This file contains information on the installation, setup, and
  9. configuration of the XPrint Windows 95 print drivers.

  15. printer drivers.  Refer to the XPrint Windows 95 documentation Set or the

  48. SECTION 1  INSTALLING THE XPRINT PRINT DRIVERS

  51. From your desktop or the Windows Explorer double click the icon for your
  52. computer. The windows 95 DEFAULT is My Computer.
  53.  
  54. Double click the Printers folder.
  55.  
  56. Double-click Add Printer to start the Add Printer Wizard
  57.  
  58. Click. [ NEXT> ].  This screen appears: 
  59.  
  60. At this screen, Local Printer should already be selected. If it is not,
  61. click once on the button to the left of Local Printer.
  62.  
  63. Click [ NEXT> ], a screen appears with a list of printer manufacturers on
  64. the left and their available models on the right.
  65.  
  66. Click once on  [ Have Disk ]
  67.  
  68. You will be prompted to insert the manufacture's installation disk into
  69. drive a:\ (default).
  70.  
  71. Insert the XPrint print driver disk into drive A:. and Click  [ Browse ].
  72.  
  73. A screen will appear that shows the contents of the diskette. In the right
  74. hand window, double-click on the XEROXINF folder.
  75.  
  76. Once this is done, in the left window, the filename XPrint.INF will appear
  77. Click [ OK ].
  78.  
  79. Select the desired XPrint (4900/4915/4920/4925) driver from the screen,
  80.  then click [ NEXT> ], a screen appears for setting the desired port.

  82. Select LPT1: .  Click once on [ NEXT> ].

  84. Click [ NEXT> ], keeping defaults until this screen appears:

  86. Name the printer.  The default printer name is recommended.
  87.  
  88. Select  Yes  or   No to chose whether the printer will be the default.
  89.  
  90. Click [ NEXT> ].

  92. The Application Wizard will prompt you to print a test page, do so.  If the
  93. test page prints successfully continue with the following section.  Follow
  94. the instructions on the screen to use Microsoft Windows 95 installation
  95. disks / CDs 
  96.  
  97. If the test page does NOT print, follow  help screens, fix problem, and
  98. continue with the following step.

  100. When the screen appears asking if the test page printed, Click [ Yes ]
  101.  
  102. Click  [ Finish ]

  104. The XPrint printer is now installed. A new icon will be created in the
  105. Printers window

  108. SECTION 2  SETUP OF THE XPRINT PRINT DRIVERS

  112. Place the cursor over the newly created printer in the Printers folder.
  113. Click once on the right mouse button.
  114.  
  115. Drag the highlight bar until it is over Properties and release the mouse
  116. button.
  117.  
  118. The printer driver configuration TABS will appear.  Click once to select
  119. the Sharing TAB.
  120.  
  121. To share the XPrint printer, Click once on the Shared As: radio button.
  122.  
  123. If desired enter a name for the printer in the Share Name box (default is
  124. suggested).

  126. Click  [ OK ] to rename/share the XPrint Printer.

  132. Click once on the PostScript TAB at the top of the driver screen.

  134. Near the bottom of the driver window, Click [ Advanced ]
  135.  
  136. A window with the advanced PostScript options will appear.
  137.  
  138. In the Data Format: area, you  M U S T  check the Send CTRL+D before job
  139. check box.  If you do not check this box you may lose print jobs or lock up
  140. the XPrint printer when trying to print from some applications.
  141. This completes the minimum setup of the XPrint printer.

  149. The information given in this document is designed to have the XPrint
  150. printer up and printing in the least amount of time.  Obviously,  this
  151. document cannot give all the information necessary for the operation of the
  152. XPrint printer.
