---------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Win32s version 1.30A is the latest version of the software
that allows you to run Win32-based applications on Windows version 3.1
or Windows for Workgroups version 3.1 and later.
The "Microsoft Win32s Upgrade" includes OLE support.
This Application Note contains the files necessary to successfully
install or upgrade Win32s version 1.30A on your system, and a
License.txt file, which has legal information regarding redistribution
of Win32s files.
The Win32s upgrade is intended as an end-user upgrade and is not
intended for further redistribution.
You can get this Application Note and the upgrade it contains by mail
(including three disks) or by downloading it from the online services
(download Pw1118.exe). Pw1118.exe also contains this Application Note
as a Readme.txt file.
INSTALLING WIN32S FROM DISKS
============================
The following instructions are for installing Win32s version 1.30A
from the three-disk set included with this Application Note.
1. Place disk 1 in drive A.
2. On the Windows Program Manager File menu, click Run.
3. Type the following:
a:\setup.exe
Follow the setup instructions, changing disks as instructed. The setup
program installs Win32s and restarts the system to update the system
files.
Win32s is now installed or upgraded on your system, and any obsolete
Win32s files have been removed.
INSTALLING WIN32S FROM PW1118.EXE
=================================
The following are instructions for installing Win32s if you have a
modem and have downloaded the Pw1118.exe file.
The Win32s files are provided in a compressed state in the Pw1118.exe
file, which is a self-extracting file.
1. Create a directory on your hard disk for the decompressed files.
For example, you could create the directory "Install" by entering
the following at the command prompt:
mkdir install
2. Copy Pw1118.exe to the new Install directory, change directories to
the Install directory, and type the following at the command
prompt:
pw1118
This decompresses the Win32s files into an installation layout (setup
program) in the Install directory.
To Install Win32s on Your System
--------------------------------
1. Run Windows and start the File Manager.
2. Open the Install directory (the directory created in step 1 of the
setup instructions above).
3. Double-click Setup.exe. The setup program installs Win32s and
restarts the system to update the system files.
Win32s is now installed or upgraded on your system, and any
obsolete Win32s files have been removed.
4. Delete the Install directory and its contents.
