  1. International Cricket is being distributed as Shareware

  4. Definition of Shareware

  7. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying it.
  8. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected to
  9. register.  Individual programs differ on details -- some request registration
  10. while others require it, some specify a maximum trial period.  With
  11. registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue using the
  12. software to an updated program with printed manual.

  14. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the
  15. copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as stated
  16. below.  Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like commercial
  17. authors, and the programs are of comparable quality.  (In both cases, there
  18. are good programs and bad ones!)  The main difference is in the method of
  19. distribution.  The author specifically grants the right to copy and distribute
  20. the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group.  For example,
  21. some authors require written permission before a commercial disk vendor may
  22. copy their Shareware.

  24. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.  You should find
  25. software that suits your needs and pocket, whether it's commercial or
  26. Shareware.  the Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because you
  27. can try before you buy.  And because the overhead us low, prices are low also.

  29. product, you don't pay for it.

  42. International Cricket is a "Shareware program" and is provided at no charge to
  43. the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends, but please
  44. do not give it away altered or as part of another system.  The essence of
  45. "user supported" software is to provide personal computer users with quality
  46. software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
  47. continue to develop new products.  If you find this program useful and find
  48. that you are using International Cricket and continue to use International
  49. Cricket after a 30 day period, you must make a registration fee of at least
  50. 15 UKP or US$ 25 to Daniel Thomas.  The registration fee will licence one copy
  51. for use on any one computer at any one time.  You must treat this software
  52. just like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any number
  53. of people and may be freely moved from one computer to another, so long as
  54. there is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's being used
  55. at another.  Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  56. same time.

  58. Commercial users of International Cricket must register and pay for their
  59. copies of International Cricket within 30 days of first use or their licence
  60. is withdrawn.  Site-Licence arrangements may be made by contacting Daniel
  61. Thomas.

  63. Anyone wishing to distribute International Cricket for any kind of
  64. renumeration must first satisfy the requirements outlined in VENDOR.TXT.

  66. You are encouraged to pass a copy of International Cricket along to your
  67. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their copy if they
  68. find that they can use it.  All registered users will receive a copy of the
  69. latest version of International Cricket.
