Software Forge iNETRiS 2.0
ÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜ
Initial Release, 20 Oct 95
Program, documentation, graphics and sound files included are all

Thanks for trying iNETRiS 2.0! Hope you enjoy it! Please read through this
file before you load the program, for important information.
1Þ Disclaimer
Use this software at your own risk. The author will not be responsible
for any damage caused directly or indirectly to any hardware, data or
anything else, by this software.
2Þ Possible bugs
On some systems, you may experience protection faults (visible as those
boxes that pop up with "Close" and "Ignore" buttons on) when you try to
connect to a remote system. This happens even if the remote system does
not exist - even if you specified an incorrect address - but also if you
get the address right.
If this is the case, it will probably not be possible to get the program
to work in multi-player mode (it should still work fine in one-player).
Please report your system details to me so that I can look for common
factors with the system I know about that doesn't work.
For information on contacting me, see the help file. The system details
you should send include which OS and version you are using, which network
(Winsock) drivers you have, which processor and graphics card you use,
and anything else you think might be relevant. Thanks!
3Þ iNETRiS network strategy
iNETRiS uses a network strategy called TCP_NODELAY to speed up program
operation. This may cause network load, although iNETRiS does not send
very much data around. Please let me know if you have a problem with this
or if you know more about it than me and want to explain :)
4Þ Provided sound files
The "thud" sound is provided in stereo. If you're playing with two people
on one machine, set the left-hand window to thud_l.wav and the right-hand
to thud_r.wav. (this will be stored for next time)
5Þ Traffic light
One additional feature has been added since the help file was written;
the "traffic light". This is a rectangle on the side of the display, which
indicates how long the server is taking to respond. The longer the delay,
the further up the bar moves. (As it goes up, it changes colour from
green to yellow to red, as you'd expect). When the bar reaches the top
(30 seconds by default, if you need to change it, please email me and
I'll look up how) your program will be disconnected from the server,
as it'll be assumed that the server has crashed or quit.
This bar does not appear on the server's display at all.
6Þ Extra credit...
Felix Hughes also helped with testing, but this was after the helpfile
and program credits display were finalised, which is why he does not
appear in those lists.
7Þ The help file
The help file is written to be useful and comprehensive. Please view the
relevant sections when you're not entirely sure how something works.
(Click the yellow ? button from the main screen)
That's it. Thanks for reading. Hope you like the game! (and at least
consider registering!)
