Are you desperate because your carefully trained and promoted
X-Wing pilot got blasted or, even worse, captured by the Empire?
Then you should take a look at XWR (X-Wing Resurrector) *_BEFORE_* you
choose the Revive function of the game. If you revive your pilot he will
lose his complete TOD score as well as his rank. This frustrated me quite
a bit when it happened to me so that I wrote this little program that will
resurrect your pilot _without_ draining points or ranks...
Usage is very simple:
1) copy XWR.EXE to the directory where X-Wing is installed
2) change to that directory
3) type: 'XWR pilotname', where pilotname is the name of your pilot (say!)
XWR then opens the pilot file, saves it unchanged as pilotname.PL$ (a
backup - just in case) changes the relevant byte and, here we go again,
your pilot is alive.
*************************** IMPORTANT *********************************
Sounds simple, is simple, but as computers always tend to a little
individuality, I can and will take no responsibility for the changed data
file. Even if XWR backups the .plt file before changing it, it would be
wise of you if you save this file on your own as well. As I am at the end
of the first tour, I can't make any predictions how XWR will behave if it is
used in a later Tour... however, it works well at the first tour and I
didn't want to keep it back if anyone else feels the urge to use it...
This program is freeware - I think that means it's free to copy, but it is
not allowed to copy it for any profit. Give it to your friends or upload
it to your local BBS, but, please, don't ever charge anything for it (money,
checks, food, girls (and/or boys) etc... <g>).
