  1. eXtended Memory Specification (XMS), v2.0,
  2. July 19, 1988.  Allows DOS programs to use
  3. additional memory found in the 80286 and
  4. higher architectures in a consistent,
  5. machine independent manner.  XMS adds almost
  6. 64K to the 640K available to programs, and,
  7. depending on hardware, possibly more.  XMS
  8. also provides DOS programs with a standard
  9. method of storing data in extended memory.
