Authors Note.
-------------
2.15Γ
Due to the new Maximus version, I have decided to release this
version faster than expected.. Since it has not been fully
tested, I have chosen to release it as a "Gamma" release..
The major difference from an ordinary version is that some of the
new stuff may not be fully tested, but everything does seem to
work as it was intended to... Another great difference is that
no documentation will be included, please locate your old
X_LIST.DOC distributed along with X_List 2.14, and keep the
differences mentioned bellow in mind..
Please not there's also a new version of Adjust with a special
Max 2.0 parameter Adjust -M<userFile>
New Stuff:
- Automatic detection of Max 1.02 or 2.0 AreaFiles..
- Added Size of files to the forward report.
- Changed handling of the MaxAreas statement, **ALL** used file
or message areas must be entered on a MaxAreas Line.
MaxAreas 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 ..... FF
MaxAreas AA AB AC AD ..... FF
** Note: X_List will only handle up to 255 areas, and the
X_List will only check two characters, and they
must be unique...
** WARNING: The maxareas statements must be placed before any
statements using the Maximus area tags.
See the XL_Max.CTL and XL_Advan.CTL controlfiles.
- Fixed the date problem with Maximus/Squish...
- Max /tb, /t and /b files.bbs file flags will now be skipped
from the public filelists, but will be preserved in the
FILES.BBS file for the area.
- The Maximus file flags /t, /b and /tb flags will NOT be
included in your Files.BBS when importing .TIC files, and not
be exported when hatching files for distribution.. Note the
flags will not be removed from forwarded .TIC files..
X_LIST 2.15 - Release Note - PAGE 5

- Added some extra information in various reports.
- Added some new control statements and modified some old:
- ProtectFile Earlier versions of X_List had an internal
list of special System files like FILES.BBS,
FILES.QBS and others, Now you need to specify

protected...

ProtectFile FILES.BAK % Don't adopt FILES.BAK
ProtectFile LFILE.DAT % Don't adopt LFILE.DAT etc..
ProtectFile FILES.QBS % Don't adopt FILES.QBS etc..
- Skip OKFile Skip Generation of the OKFile for all areas,
this statement may be useful if only a
handful of file areas should be available for
filerequests.
At the same time the criteria for entering
the OKFile has been changed:
By default, all areas between the <first> and
<last> values will be included in the okfile
(in earlier versions only areas included in
the filelist were included). This change may
force you to use the Skip <Area> OkFile
option.
Skip OKFile % Skip generation of OKfile for all areas
- Skip <Area> OKFile Just skip a single area from the OKFile
Skip 10 OkFile % Skip OkFile entry for area 10

X_LIST V 2.15 (C) DUGFRISK UnLtd. & BIFROST UnLtd. - 1988-1991.
I have also decided to create a FidoNet ECHO-MAIL area for user
support for utilities from BIFROST Unltd. The area will be named
'GINNUNGAGAB'. It is my hope that the users of Bifrost Unltd.
products will be able to help each other getting the most out of
the programs.
If you have any suggestions for new features or if you have
some bug reports, then let me know by sending a Matrix to Per
Holm on FidoNet node 2:230/22.0, EEggNet node 97:9451/4..
I wish to say thank you to the beta tester crew for being
willing to run the Beta version on their system, with strange
results from time to time.
And a special thanx to Dan Schmidt on (2:230/143) for spending
some time reading and commenting the X_LIST DOC file.
I also wish to thank Stig Jacobsen (2:231/77.16) for allowing
me to update the Adjust program in the future...
And especially Kristian Ottosen (2:231/34.13) for making it all
possible by starting the X_LIST project...
X_List has been tested on various combinations of the following
BBS systems and mailers: Opus 1.03, Opus 1.14, Maximus 2.0x,
QuickBBS, RemoteAccess 1.1x, TCL, FrontDoor 2.0x, BinkleyTerm
2.40/2.50 and possibly others too..
X_LIST 2.15 - Release Note - PAGE 11
X_LIST V 2.15 (C) DUGFRISK UnLtd. & BIFROST UnLtd. - 1988-1991.
I also wish to than the beta tester crew !
(the name list will be included in the next full release)..
Now there's only one more thing to say about this version:
As stated in the Document you must send a postcard to Kristian in
return for the usage of X_List, the address is in the manual.
If you have already sent a postcard for an earlier version to
Kristian you don't need to send another for this version, but if
you feel like it don't hold it back.
A long time ago Kristian promised me that i was welcome to come
and visit him (on my old bike) from time to time just to look at
all these nice postcards, and i must admit that it is nice to see
that X_List is in use all over the world... I'm looking forward
to see your postcard......
So far we have received postcards from the following countries:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark,
Finland, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy,
Yugoslavia, Norway, New Guinea, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden,
United Kingdom, USA, USSR.
Australia: Victoria, New South Wales, Northern Territory,
Queensland, South Australia.
USA: Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maine,
Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York,
North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Washington.
USSR: Novosibirsk.
Sorry if I forgot some ;-)
We both wish to say thankyou to all who has sent us a postcard!!
If you have any comments, I would like to hear from you, it's
always nice with some feedback, knowing other peoples opinion
about the software, getting new ideas and receive some
information on the parts that could be improved.
My mail addresses are placed in the top of this document.
Cheers
Per Holm.
