Using X24WNSTL.ZIP for the PowerGraph X-24 Adapter
WARNING: You MUST HAVE the PowerGraph X-24 Windows 3.0/3.1 Drivers release
1.2 in order to use this version of the Winstall program. That can be
obtained on the STB Tech BBS at 214-437-9615 in the file X24WIN31.ZIP or
through Technical Support at 214-234-8750.
As long as you have the PowerGraph X-24 Windows 3.0/3.1 Drivers release
1.2 then you are ready to proceed:
1. Format a blank floppy that is the same format as your X-24 Windows
3.0/3.1 Drivers disk.
2. Create a \WINSTALL directory on that newly formatted disk.
3. Copy the contents of this X24WNSTL.ZIP archive (use PKUnzip 1.1 or
later to decompress) to the \WINSTALL directory on your new disk.
4. Run Windows, go to Program Manager, select File, select Run, type the
path to your newly created \WINSTALL directory and the SETUP program
for Winstall (eg. "a:\winstall\setup"), proceed with the setup
normally. You will be prompted to insert a "Windows 3.1 Disk" and at
that point you need to put the X-24 Windows 3.0/3.1 Drivers disk
release 1.2 in the same drive that you ran the Winstall setup program
from and then type the drive letter in the prompt box (eg. "a:" or
"b:"). It will then copy all of the drivers and font files. A new
Winstall icon should be created. See the manual for documentation on
how to use this.
If you have the PowerGraph X-24 Windows 3.0/3.1 Drivers release 1.1, this
version of Winstall will not install correctly without doing the following
first:
1. Download X24WINTC.ZIP from the STB Tech BBS.
2. Either create a RAM disk (see your DOS manual for details) to copy the
PowerGraph X-24 Windows 3.0/3.1 disk to, or copy it to your hard disk.
Either way, when finished on your RAM disk or hard disk you should have
a \FILES directory with all of the *.FON, *.DRV, etc. files, a
\WIN30DRV directory, and a \WIN31DRV directory. These MUST BE OFF THE
ROOT DIRECTORY (ie. not under a subdirectory). XCOPY with the "/s"
option is very handy for copying the disk to your drive (eg: "xcopy /s
a:\*.* c:\"). Advanced users will find that using a large RAM disk
(2048k or more) will speed the installation considerably.
3. Decompress (using PKUNZIP 1.1 or later) the X24WINTC.ZIP archive file
into the \FILES directory that you have just created.
4. On the *SAME DRIVE* as the Windows 3.0/3.1 Drivers were copied to,
create a \WINSTALL directory and decompress the X24WNSTL.ZIP file to
that directory.
5. Run Windows, go to Program Manager, select File, select Run, type the
path to your newly created \WINSTALL directory and the SETUP program
for Winstall (eg. "c:\winstall\setup"), proceed with the setup
normally. A new Winstall icon should be created. See the manual for
documentation on how to use this.
If you have the PowerGraph X-24 Windows 3.0/3.1 Drivers release 1.0 then
you cannot use this version of Winstall. You should download the
X24WIN31.ZIP file and optionally the X24DISK1.ZIP files from the STB Tech
BBS.
