VIP.EXE ver. 5.2a
OOPs UPDATE
The first release was version 4.0 which was not widely
distributed. A major bug brought about ver. 4.1
While correcting a bug in version 4.1, I seem to have
created a new bug in ver. 4.2
So VIP ver 4.3 was created. Again I goofed, and had to
create VIP ver. 4.4
After extensive testing I was sure everything was just
fine. After using VIP for awhile, I discovered certain
zip's would not extract. I found that some types of
comments added to the zips would disrupt things.
This has been corrected and thus ver 4.4a came to be.
Version 4.5 aquired an edit function.
A new bug poped up. When editing a file, depending on
witch editor you used, it would clear the saved screen &
when you return to vip, you had a blank screen.
Ver 4.5a solved all the problems (I hope).
After a complaint that it would not work with PkZip 1.10
and only PKZ204, it was modified to work with either
version.
It's true what they are saying about PkZip204C that it can
trash your hard drive, and/or zipfiles.
I'll vouch for that, for it happened to me. As of this date
PKzip Version 204G is available and you should replace your
old one with this one. It has the bad bugs corrected.
A version with mouse support had a lot of trouble when used
on different computers, and was abandoned for the time being.
Version 5.0 got some new functions. It will now support older
versions of dos IF you are using PkZip 204 or newer. Other
types of operating systems were not tried or tested.
Now you can delete a Zipfile from the main menu.
An Include/Exclude function to log EXE files so you can now
process self extracting Zips with the EXE extension.
Version 5.1 checks to see if PkZip is present in the search
path. If it's not, the program will terminate.
No check is made for odd types of operating systems.
Version 5.2 made a lot of changes. 2 new hot-keys to define
the editor, and the work drive.
Corrected a flaw that would not let you access some files on
drive A or B. Sometimes it would, but when you edit or view
them, it needed more room for extraction / re-Zipping.
Added the function to restore/create directories that are
stored within the zipfile.
Increased the use of the escape key to cancel many operations.
Corrected some of my bad spelling in the help file.
Fixed a bug that tried to unzip a blank directory stored in a
zipfile as a saved path.
More changes, but I don't remember what!
Your Reports and/or complaints are welcome and encouraged.
