  9.      This document applies to UUPC/extended version 1.08a, and was

  14.      This file is a list of known bugs and quirks in UUPC/extended.

  19.        1. The reply (r) command gets confused by mixed mode addresses.
  20.  
  21.        2. If compiled under Microsoft C, UUIO exhibits inconsistent results
  22.           compared to the original Turbo C++ version.
  23.  
  24.        3. DECUS UUCP 1.1 won't exchange protocol information with UUPC.  A
  25.           fix for DECUS UUCP 1.1 was posted to the net, and the bug is also
  26.           fixed in version 1.2.
  27.  
  28.        4. There is no UUCP or UUX command.
  29.  
  30.        5. There is no system log.
  31.  
  32.        6. UUIO maintains a summary of hosts contacted, but doesn't record
  33.           this information for cumulative processing.
  34.  
  35.        7. UUPC doesn't support news beyond saving the data destined for
  36.           rnews in files in the NEWS directory.  DON'T ASK, okay?
  37.  
  38.        8. The users STILL hate the lack of documentation.
  39.  
  40.        9. Hitting Ctrl-Break when UUIO is executing in passive mode will
  41.           sometimes cause the system to branch to the TwiByte Zone.
  42.  
  43.       10. Some editors, like EDLIN, cause the signature file to be lost.
  44.  
  45.       11. UUPC, while sendmail like, doesn't support sendmail syntax of
  46.           specifying the item to act on, like:

  50.       12. COM3 and COM4 are not supported.  This can be corrected by
  51.           examining the BIOS for the addresses and using them if
  52.           available.

  54.       13. UUPOLL loops if not enough memory is available to execute UUIO.

  56.       14. The Z-100 version of UUPC/extended (which has a different
  57.           communications package) doesn't always work.
  58.  
  59.       15. Files are not locked when being read and updated by interactive
  60.           mail; if a file is updated by sending or saving mail, the mail
  61.

  75.       16. Binary files are corrupted during transfer if one side believes
  76.           flow control is active and the other side does not.
  77.  
  78.       17. UUPOLL polling times are one hour off when daylight savings time
  79.           is not in effect.
  80.  
  81.       18. UUPOLL polls at odd times if the interval specified by the
  82.           interval flag (-i) does not divide evenly into 24 hours.
  83.  
  84.       19. UUPOLL polls at odd times if the first time to poll is after
  85.           9:06:08 A.M.  (32K seconds).
  86.  
  87.       20. Mail from the mail server should never be sent back to it.
  88.  
  89.       21. UUPC forces communications to No Parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit,
  90.           no flow control.  This should be under user control.
  91.  
  92.       22. Which RFC-822 headers are suppressed by the print (P) command
  93.           cannot be altered by the user; they are displayed in an all or
  94.           nothing fashion.
  95.  
  96.       23. Remote users can transfer files to anywhere on the local system
  97.           and overlay local files.
  98.  
  99.       24. The program should severely limit the number of the a_s_s_e_r_t_()
  100.           statements because the resulting message is not informative. 
  101.           Especially important is proper error checking for disk I/O.
  102.           Also, a_s_s_e_r_t_() statements should not include critical code, since
  103.           the NDEBUG option suppresses the execution of the clause within
  104.           the a_s_s_e_r_t_().
  105.  
  106.       25. UUIO should support a generic modem expect/response string for
  107.           dialing.
  108.  
  109.       26. Mail should not be delivered to non-existent local user ids
  110.           without permission.
  111.  
  112.       27. Mail should understand the concept of 'local' domain, and that
  113.           mail for any system in the local domain should not be forwarded
  114.           to a mail server outside the domain.
  115.  
  116.       28. UUPC will not compile with Turbo C 1.0.  This is a permanent
  117.           restriction, and will not be corrected.
